Report Says Nearly Half of Syrian Rebels Are Jihadists

A study by a defense consultant is showing that up to 45,000 of the 100,000 estimated fighters in the Syrian insurgency are either hardline Islamists or with groups showing similar sentiments.

The report also says an additional 30,000 fighters belong to moderate groups that have an Islamic nature to their group leaving only a very small portion of the rebels as having purely secular motives for fighting the Assad regime. Continue reading

Al-Qaeda Related Terror Groups Merge; Threaten France

One of Africa’s most wanted terrorists has released a video announcing his group has merged with another terror group aiming to take revenge on France for its intervention in Mali.

Mokhtar Belmokhtar, who has a $5 million bounty on his head by U.S. authorities, said his Masked Men Brigade will join with a Mali-based terror group to form Al-Murabitoun. Belmokhtar is the man believed to have masterminded the terror attack and hostage execution in Algerian plant in January. Continue reading

Al-Qaeda To Focus On Israeli and Jewish Targets

The Israeli Counter Terrorism Bureau has released a report showing that al-Qaeda and other Islamic terrorists groups are planning a major focus on Israeli and Jewish targets over the next few weeks.

The report listed dozens of nations where the CTB was “concrete” proof of a terrorist threat. Israeli citizens were urged to immediately leave nations Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Syria and Lebanon among others. A travel restriction was put in place to other nations such as Libya, Tunisia and Sudan. Terrorists Kill 24 Egyptian Police

At least 24 Egyptian police are dead after a terrorist attack in the Sinai peninsula.

The BBC reports a police convoy near Rafah when the terrorists attacked it. The assault is one of the deadliest attacks on police in years. Officials says the officers were off-duty and riding in busses when the terrorists forced them off the bus and shot them point blank in the back of the head. Continue reading

American Nuclear Facilities Vulnerable To Terror Attack

A new report says that American nuclear facilities are vulnerable to a “high-force” terrorist attack and some are still vulnerable to sabotage intended to create a nuclear meltdown.

The Nuclear Proliferation Prevention Project at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas released the report stating they want to shine a light on the security gaps left a decade after 9/11. Continue reading
