Syria To Allow Inspectors Into Mass Killing Site

The Syrian government, almost a week after a chemical weapons attack killed more than 300 people, is finally allowing United Nations inspectors to visit the site.

Hundreds Killed By Chemical Weapons In Syria

Syrian opposition leaders say the government launched a chemical weapons attack overnight, killing entirely families while they slept. An official death toll has not been released but most activist groups place the number of dead in the hundreds.

Rebels Claim Attack On Syrian President’s Motorcade

Syrian rebel forces claim a rocket and mortar attack on the motorcade of President Bashar al-Assad as he traveled to pray to mark the start of a major Muslim holiday.

Two Syrian rebel brigades say they struck Assad’s motorcade in the upscale Malki district of the capital. The government denied that any attack was made on or near the President’s motorcade. Continue reading

UN Weapon Inspectors To Enter Syria

The Syrian government has agreed to allow UN weapons inspectors to visit three sites where chemical weapons were reportedly used against rebel forces.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said that the inspectors would be leaving “as soon as possible” and are expected to visit the site outside Aleppo where 27 people were reportedly killed by chemical weapons earlier this year. Continue reading

Russia Accuses Syrian Rebels of Using Nerve Gas

Russia has released a report where they claim Syrian rebels fired one canister of chemical weapons into a village in northern Syria.

Russia, an ally and apologist for the Syrian government, has long been resisting international efforts to remove President Bashir al-Assad from power and has disputed results of multiple reports showing conclusive proof of the government’s use of toxic sarin gas against rebels and civilians. France Confirms Use Of Sarin Gas in Syria

French foreign minister Laurent Fabius has said that laboratory tests have confirmed use of the nerve agent Sarin in the Syrian Civil War.

The White House again said that more proof was needed because the French scientists did not indicate where the gas was used or who used it. The U.N. stated earlier that “reasonable grounds” have been established for claiming the Syrian government has used chemical weapons. Continue reading
