Saudi Arabian Flash Flooding Kills 13

saudifloodingAt least 13 people are confirmed dead with others missing as flash flooding struck across Saudi Arabia.

Deaths were reported in all parts of the country including the capital of Riyadh. The Saudi Civil Defense Authority is urging people to avoid valleys and plains. Massive Rains Create Widespread Flooding, Delays

Massive rains have created widespread flash flooding all across the Chicago area, closing expressways and submerging numerous streets, basements and viaducts.

As of 10 a.m., flooding had closed the Edens at Pratt. The Kennedy at Montrose and parts of the Eisenhower also were closed. The inbound Bishop Ford was experiencing major backups with lanes closed. Other expressways had major delays. Continue reading

Children Buried Alive In Kenyan Landslide

Heavy rains drove flooding and landslides that have killed 36 people this month and left more than 52,000 people out of their homes.

Two children were killed Wednesday as they slept when a flood of mud and water engulfed their home. Rescue workers at the scene are trying to recover the bodies. Several other homes were destroyed in the landslide in the village of Olutrot in Narok county. Continue reading

Argentina Flooding Death Toll Rises

The flash flooding in Buenos Aires and surrounding areas has killed at least 57 people. The suburb of La Plata had the highest total of 51 dead.

The government reports that the flood has destroyed over 100,000 homes. Power is still out throughout the region as most lines were knocked down during the flooding. Government workers are distributing water, food and clothing. Continue reading
