Budapest, Hungary is facing historic flooding of the Danube River that is driving thousands from their homes after heavy rain across central Europe.
The river is expected to crest at 29.5, just a foot below the river’s flood fences at 30.5 feet. The previous record high was 28 feet in 2006. At least 1,200 people from 28 towns have been forced to leave their homes. Continue reading
West Alton, Missouri has over 40 homes under water after a Missouri River levee failed near where the Missouri meets the Mississippi River.
The levee failed around noon local time and officials rushed to evacuate hundreds of people. Residents helped officials leave the area. Continue reading
The body of a missing 8-year-old girl was found Monday afternoon in the Deep Fork River in Oklahoma, the 18th confirmed dead from the weekend tornadoes and heavy rain.

Avron Adams and a friend were caught in the floodwaters of the usually dry Cibolo Creek in Schertz, Texas. Adams’ friend clung to a branch and was able to get to safety but Adams was unable to hold on. Continue reading

The morning commute was severely hampered as many roads were too flooded to be passed by motorists. Manhattan, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Hudson County in New Jersey were all hit by the flash flooding. Continue reading
At least 13 people are confirmed dead with others missing as flash flooding struck across Saudi Arabia.
Deaths were reported in all parts of the country including the capital of Riyadh. The Saudi Civil Defense Authority is urging people to avoid valleys and plains. A one-two punch of flash flooding and a 5.6-magnitude earthquake has killed 24 Afghan citizens and injured hundreds.
The earthquake struck around 2 p.m. about 17 miles northwest of Jalalabad. At least nine have died in the region around the epicenter including a child. Hundreds of homes collapsed during the quake leaving thousands homeless. Continue reading
Massive rains have created widespread flash flooding all across the Chicago area, closing expressways and submerging numerous streets, basements and viaducts.
As of 10 a.m., flooding had closed the Edens at Pratt. The Kennedy at Montrose and parts of the Eisenhower also were closed. The inbound Bishop Ford was experiencing major backups with lanes closed. Other expressways had major delays. Continue reading

Two children were killed Wednesday as they slept when a flood of mud and water engulfed their home. Rescue workers at the scene are trying to recover the bodies. Several other homes were destroyed in the landslide in the village of Olutrot in Narok county. Continue reading
