The bomber and four of the President’s security team were killed during the attack.

The mourners were attending a funeral for an influential tribal elder in the border district of Dur Baba. The homicide bomber infiltrated the parade of mourners before detonating his device.

Four homicide bombers killed 30 in the market areas of the city of Zaranj. Intelligence officials in Zaranj told the BBC that they have arrested several other homicide bombers and said as many at 14 may be in the city. A truck bombing in the Iraqi city of Diwaniya has killed at least 25 people and wounded 40 more on a day where bomb attacks spread throughout the country.

Three NATO soldiers and a local interpreter were among 21 killed when a homicide bomber attacked a joint NATO-Afghan military checkpoint. The bomber drove a motorcycle covered in explosives into a bazaar near the checkpoint.
