Al Qaeda Apologizes For Hospital Attack

Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula did something almost unheard of for a terrorist organization: they apologized for an attack.

The group attacked the Yemeni Ministry of Defense on December 5th but one of their members apparently decided to attack a nearby hospital as part of the assault. The bombing and shooting in Sanaa left dozens of people dead.

The leader of AQAP released a video Sunday saying that the hospital assault was the mistake of one lone fighter and that he had orders not to attack the hospital or a nearby mosque.

“We confess to this mistake and fault. We offer our apologies and condolences to the families of the victims,” leader Qassim Al-Raimi said in the video. “We did not want your lost ones; we did not target them on purpose. This is not of our religion or our morals.”

Raimi went on to say the terrorist organization would financially compensate those killed in the hospital attack.

Teenager Charged In Violent Attack on Nun

A Pennsylvania teenager is behind bars charged with a brutal attack on a retired nun.

Andrew Bullock, 18, attacked the nun outside of St. Titus Church near Pittsburgh. He reportedly asked the nun if she needed help. When she declined, he grabbed her by the neck, choked her and punched her.

The nun is hospitalized with severe injuries including a broken jaw. She communicated information about the details of her attack by writing them down for police before she was taken into surgery.

“The Sisters of St. Joseph are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the assault of one of our Sisters,” a statement from the order said. “As we offer continued prayers of healing for our Sister, we also pray for the young man who has been arrested in the assault.”

Bullock is held on $50,000 bond for charges including aggravated assault. Bullock confessed to the attack during questioning by police.

Two More Knockout Attacks Reported

Two more victims of the knockout game were reported to police as a New York official admitted the attacks are happening primarily to Jewish residents.

Eli Leidner, a 26-year-old Hasidic Jew, was attacked at 10:40 p.m. in the Williamsburg neighborhood of New York by a woman who ran up and sucker punched him. The woman then stood laughing as Leidner lay on the floor.

Leidner told police that two people came at him but only the woman struck him in the face.

While police officials are loathe to acknowledge the knockout game officially, some New York officials are at least admitting a pattern of assaults. New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind said he could see a connection in the attacks.

“It seems clear that overwhelmingly here in New York the victims have been Jewish, there’s no question about that,’ Hikind told New York radio station WCBS. ‘You have New Yorkers who are afraid to walk the streets, afraid to let their kids walk the in streets because you don’t know who the next victim is going to be.”

Meanwhile, a 63-year-old Philadelphia man was beaten by a group of four black youths according to a witness. She said that the gang attacked the man out of nowhere, knocked him to the ground with a punch to the head and cheered while two of the youths recorded the attack on their cell phones.

The man was hospitalized with head and chest injuries.

Iraqi Militia Attacks Saudi Arabian Outpost

Saudi Arabian officials report that Iraqi militia attacked an outpost in the far northwestern part of the kingdom.

Six mortar bombs landed near the border post but caused no damage.

Iraq’s al-Mukhtar Army militia, a group supported by the Iranian government, admitted carrying out the attack.

“The goal was to send a warning message to Saudis to tell them that their border stations and patrol are within our range of fire,” Wathiq al-Batat, commander of the al-Mukhtar Army, told Reuters. He said they wanted the Saudis to stop interfering in Iraq.

He also said that Saudis and Kuwaitis had been insulting the daughter of the Prophet Mohammed.

Iran refused to comment on the attack. Iran and Saudi Arabia have a long history of tension and the Saudis have committed to Iran not obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Pregnant Woman Stabbed and Beaten Gives Birth

Rachel Poole, the Texas woman who was beaten and stabbed while on a FaceTime video chat with her soldier husband who was in Afghanistan, has given birth to a healthy baby girl.

Isabella Poole was born via caesarean section at University Medical Center in El Paso.

31-year-old Rachel Poole was attacked in her home Wednesday night while chatting with her deployed husband. The assailant, Cory Moss, stabbed Rachel with a knife and then beat her severely. She suffered stab wounds, a collapsed lung, dislocated vertebrae and broken bones in her eye socket from the brutal attack. She is unable to see out of one of her eyes.

Moss reportedly owed the Poole’s money for car repairs because he had borrowed one of their cars and wrecked it.

Justin Poole was able to reach Moss’ co-workers at Fort Bliss who captured and held him until police arrived on base. Moss is facing charges of criminal attempted capital murder.

Rachel Poole remains in critical condition at University Medical Center. Her family would not release her prognosis to the press.

Pastor Attacked By “Militant Atheist”

A pastor in North Hampton, Ohio was violently attacked after a sermon by a man who describes himself as a “militant atheist.”

James Maxie, 28, of Springfield, Ohio was attending a service at Bridge Community Church. Maxie disrupted the service several times in what parishioners described as attempts at confrontation with the pastor. After the service ended, Maxie and his girlfriend approached the pastor.

When the pastor asked the girlfriend if she felt safe, Maxie attacked with a brutality that police chief Jarrod Campbell says he’s never seen before.

Reverend Norman Hayes, 57, suffered a broken nose, bruises and three long cuts to the face that required stitches. Hayes said that he feared for his life and begged for Maxie to stop the attack.

Maxie fled the church and hid in a cornfield where police discovered him. Officials say that because of the brutality of his attack on the pastor, Maxie will be facing felony charges.

“We believe there is hope for everyone,” Hayes told WHIO-TV, “but we also believe that regardless of that, people need to pay for what they have done, and I hope he has to pay for what he has done. Get put away for a while and not hurt anyone else. In my opinion, the next person won’t be as lucky as I was.”
