Eight ISIS bombers are dead after they attempted to breach a base in Iraq that was housing U.S. Marines.
Iraqi Security Forces were able to stop the bombers at the Ain al-Asad air base before they could reach the areas housing the U.S. troops. Coalition forces were the ones who identified the bombers to the ISF.
“The ISF supported by Coalition surveillance assets defeated the attack, killing all eight attackers,” the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve outlined in a statement. “The ISF have since re-secured their facility.”
“Coalition forces were several kilometers from the attack and at no stage where they under direct threat from this action.”
The Ain al-Asad air base reportedly is being attacked daily by ISIS but U.S. officials have described them as “nuisance attacks” with no real substance. The base is where at least 300 Marines are training Iraqi security forces.
Islamic extremist group Boko Haram has launched their first attack on the nation of Chad.
Militants attacked a village on the shore of Lake Chad early Friday morning. The village of Ngouboua was raided leaving many residents dead although local officials could not say the total number of the dead.
“The assailants have scattered and the army is now pursuing them,” army Col. Azem Bermandoa told The Associated Press by telephone.
Chad has been the largest supporter of Nigerian troops in their battle against the Islamists. Boko Haram leaders had been warning they were going to be launching attacks on those who had been supporting their opposition.
Chad is also working with Niger, Cameroon and Benin to start a multi-national force to fight the terrorists. The official launch of the unit is expected in the next few weeks.
Boko Haram likely chose the city because it was a refuge for Nigerians who had fled the terrorists. The U.N. says at least 3,300 refugees were in the village.
A report before the House Homeland Security Commission says that a estimates show over 20,000 foreign fighters sympathetic to ISIS have gone to the middle east to join the group or attempt to join them.
Nick Rasmussen, the head of the National Counterterrorism Center said that fighters are joining at a rate never seen in previous conflicts of similar nature like Somalia, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Supporters from 80 countries are believed to be in Syria.
The report says that approximately 150 Americans have attempted to travel to the war zone to join ISIS. Officials say that while some have been caught, a majority were able to make it to ISIS territory.
The new estimate is double the previous and experts say it could top 30,000 in the next few months.
“This new total reflects an increase in members because of stronger recruitment since June following battlefield successes and the declaration of a caliphate, greater battlefield activity and additional intelligence,” an unidentified CIA official told CNN this week.
The chairman of the Committee, Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas, said the report brings him serious concerns.
“I am worried about our ability to combat this threat abroad, but also here at home,” he said. “I wrote to the president recently as part of my ongoing investigation and raised concerns that we have no lead agency in charge of countering domestic radicalization and no line item for it in the budgets of key departments and agencies. I am also concerned that the few programs we do have in place are far too small to confront a challenge that has grown so quickly.”
Fifteen women who were not wearing a niqab have been disfigured with acid at the hands of the ISIS Female Police.
The women were abused in the Mosul neighborhood of Salamiya according to Kurdish officials.
They have implemented this punishment so that other women in the city will never consider removing or not wearing the niqab,” a Kurdistan Democratic Party official in Mosul, Saed Mamuzini said.
ISIS issued a warning in July to all women in Mosul that if they were caught without a full face veil they would be punished.
“This is not a restriction on freedom but to prevent her from falling into humiliation and vulgarity or to be a theater for the eyes of those who are looking,” The Islamic State said in its warning statement. “Anyone who is not committed to this duty and is motivated by glamour will be subject to the accountability and severe punishment to protect society from harm and to maintain the necessities or religion and protect it from debauchery.”
The Female Police unit has been caught using medieval torture devices to abuse and mutilate women who violate their regulations.
The first report since 1998 from the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child is showing the horrors of ISIS upon religious minorities.
The report, written by 18 independent experts, shows that ISIS is using children with mental illnesses as suicide bombers. The children are unable to understand that they will die as a result of what they’re doing, and because of their autism and other illnesses they believe they are just being “good kids.”
“We have had reports of children, especially children who are mentally challenged, who have been used as suicide bombers, most probably without them even understanding,” Committee expert Renate Winter said. “There was a video placed [online] that showed children at a very young age, approximately eight years of age and younger, to be trained already to become child soldiers.”
The group has also targeted the children of Christians for crucifixions and live burial. The children would sometimes be thrown into open graves that contain the bodies of their parents and buried.
In addition to the active murders of children, ISIS is also locking children inside homes where they die of starvation or thirst. Children are also sold in markets next to fruit and vegetables.
The report outlines the selling of young girls as sex slaves.
ISIS is using social media video to campaign for youth to join their terrorist organization.
The theme of the videos is “What are you waiting for?”
A video posted last week called “Blow Up France 2” features a young jihadist waving an assault weapon telling Muslims they need to continue their attacks on France.
“Don’t give up and particularly don’t lower your weapons, don’t surrender — kill. Today, it’s our darwa — kill them. You now have more than 4 million targets,” the jihadist said in French.
Just hours after the release of the video, Islamist Moussa Coulibaly stabbed three French soldiers patrolling near a Jewish Community Center in Nice. While the attacker shares the same last name as the gunman who killed four a Jewish supermarket in the aftermath of the Charlie Hebdo killings, police could not confirm if they were related.
“ISIS did not want this exclusively for a French audience,” said Ryan Mauro, security analyst for the Clarion Project, an educational group focused on Islamist extremism. “The group wanted to send a message to Americans, as well.”
One of the young Jihadists in the video is believed to be the widow of one of the men who carried out the murderous rampage at Charlie Hebdo. Hayat Moumeddiene is labeled as France’s “Most Wanted Woman” by security authorities.
ISIS claimed Friday that an American hostage was killed during Jordanian airstrikes on the terrorist group.
“The failed Jordanian aircraft killed an American female hostage,” said the message released through a Jihadist watchdog website. “No mujahid (fighters) was injured in the bombardment, and all praise is due to Allah.”
“The criminal Crusader coalition aircraft bombarded a site outside the city of ar-Raqqah today at noon while the people were performing the Friday prayer,” ISIS said. “The air assaults were continuous on the same location for more than an hour.”
The woman, Kayla Mueller, was taken by the terrorists in 2013. The woman had moved to Syria to help children who were orphaned or separated from their families by the civil war.
She is the fourth American to die at the hands of ISIS. Sources say it’s very possible the terrorists actually executed her so they could blame her death on Jordan through social media outlets.
The White House said American intelligence officials are investigating the claim.
The extremist group Boko Haram has announced they are mimicking ISIS in declaring their own Islamic caliphate. The group aims to claim parts of Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon.
Dr. David Curry of Open Doors USA said during an event sponsored by the Family Research Council that people are underestimating the brutality of the terror group.
Curry said that in Nigeria alone, over 2,200 Christians were killed by the group in 2014 just for their faith in Christ. He also said the estimate is low because there are many other deaths at the hands of Boko Haram they have not been able to verify as being motivated by the Christian faith of the victim.
He said that Boko Haram already controls a part of Nigeria the size of Belgium.
“Nigeria has been experiencing attacks much like the Iraqis were facing just a few years ago,” Curry explained. “You have Boko Haram, which has a very similar Al-Qaeda, Islamic State ideology, they have been making attacks, bombings, like you have seen on churches. Now all of a sudden they are beginning to take territory.
“There is a common-path pattern here,” Curry added. “First, individual attacks, then bombings, then the conquering of territory and attacking of civilian sites like army bases and these sorts of things.”
The governments of Chad and Cameroon said Wednesday they have been actively using their military powers against Boko Haram and have killed 250 terrorists this week.
Islamic extremist group ISIS has released a modification for a video game that allows a player to be a terrorist killing westerners.
The modification is for a game created by Czech developers Bohemia Interactive called ARMA III which is a futuristic first-person shooter based in the year 2030. The game allows NATO forces to fight against Middle Eastern terrorists.
The game modification is not an official release by the Czech developers and was introduced by a terrorist in an online forum.
“I will, with the help of Allah, make dozens of copies for this game and distribute it to all the brothers that use the name of the caliphate,” the terrorist wrote.
Terrorism analysts say the game is another attempt by the group to try and recruit youth to join their jihad.
A British man convicted of terrorism told Sky News that those games are also being used to “dehumanize” the young gamers and make them un-phased by graphic violence.
“You got an eight or nine-year-old child playing those kind of violent games with heads blowing off and limbs blowing off,” Shahid Butt said. “What kind of mentality is that kid going to have? You dehumanized that person. To go and fight in Syria is as easy as going on holiday in Disneyland. Because you have made it easy.”
Islamic extremist group ISIS has killed a Jordanian pilot captured over Syria by burning him alive inside a cage.
The video posted online shows Lt. Moaz al-Kasasbeh inside a steel cage. He tries to cover his head before falling to his knees and being burned to ash. The 22 minute video shows the terrorists parading the captured man through the streets before the brutal killing.
Jordanian state television confirmed the man in the video is Lt. al-Kasasbeh and that the death happened a month ago. The terrorists had been sitting on the video while negotiating with the Jordanian government for millions of dollars for the pilot’s release.
President Obama told reporters that the video gives “one more indication” of the hate that comes from the terrorist group.
“I think it will redouble the vigilance and determination of the part of the global coalition to make sure they are degraded and ultimately defeated,” he added.
Public officials in Jordan say that the public is calling for the government to execute ISIS terrorists currently held in jails.
