Northern Ireland To Open First Abortion Clinic

A private group is opening the first abortion clinic in Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland is not governed under the UK’s Abortion Law and the group will only be able to provide abortion services during the first nine weeks of pregnancy to comply with the country’s abortion laws.

Congo Rebels Kill Children Who Refuse To Fight

Human Rights Watch has released a report detailing atrocities committed by M23 rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo including execution of children who refuse to serve in their ranks.

A spokesperson for Human Rights Watch told the BBC that the rebels have forced 137 young men and boys to join their army and have executed 33 young men and children who tried to escape from serving their troops. Continue reading

Taliban Insurgents Murder Civilians For Attending Party

Two women and 15 men were found murdered along the side of a road in the Kajaki district of Afghanistan murdered by Taliban insurgents. All the victims were either beheaded or had their throats slashed. Most showed evidence of beatings and some had shotgun wounds.

Local officials confirmed the Taliban murdered the civilians.

“[They were] partying with music in an area under the control of the Taliban,” Helmand provincial governor’s spokesman told AFP news agency. The Taliban disapprove of men and women mixing in social environments. Continue reading

Mass Murder Plot Stopped In Maryland

Police have labeled a mass murder plot in Maryland as a possible copycat attempt of the Dark Knight Rises massacre in Colorado.

Neil Prescott, 28, referred to himself as “a joker” like the theatre killer in Aurora, Colorado. Prescott called his employer and said he was coming in to “shoot the place up” after finding out that he was about to be fired, according to police sources. Continue reading

Muslim Man Accused Of Murdering Daughter in 2003

A Muslim man on trial for the murder of his 17-year-old daughter in 2003 has had his wife come forward to claim he’s guilty of the crime.

Farzana Ahmed, also on trial for the killing of Shafilea Ahmed, told prosecutors that her husband Ifitkar attacked their daughter and that she had tried to stop him. After her husband punched and pushed her away, she hid in a bedroom with other children until she heard a car leaving 20 minutes later. Continue reading

US Troops Killed In Afghanistan

Six US soldiers were killed in Afghanistan by a roadside bomb while on a mission with other NATO forces. The incident comes after 14 civilians were killed in Taliban attacks on Sunday.

The civilians were also killed by roadside bombs that were aimed to cause maximum civilian causalities. The first bomb hit a car and then the second did not explode until a tracker arrived to rescue the wounded from the initial attack. Continue reading

Series of Bombings Kill 25 In Iraq

A truck bombing in the Iraqi city of Diwaniya has killed at least 25 people and wounded 40 more on a day where bomb attacks spread throughout the country.

The bombing appeared to be aimed at Shia Muslims who were gathering at a market near a mosque for a pilgrimage to Karbala. The Shia community is celebrating the anniversary of the birth of a revered Imam.

Police have shut down all entrances to the city in an attempt to quell more violence. Continue reading

Kenyan Church Attacks Kill 15

Gunmen attacked the African Inland Church in Garissa, Kenya over the weekend killing 15 and wounding 40.

Security officials say that gunmen overpowered two police officers who were guarding the building, then took the officer’s rifles inside and began firing. When the congregants fled out the front doors of the church other gunmen were waiting in ambush. At least one grenade was also thrown at the church during the attack. Continue reading
