Honest, Real Conversation! MONDO Show Begins Tonight on PTL Television Network

Mondo De Va Lega has been on a journey that most of us could not fathom. From gang life to an incredible walk with God this young co-host of The Jim Bakker Show understands that each step has brought a deeply profound testimony and direction.  For 18 years he has prepared to fulfill the call of God on his life and the potential to change a generation. The time is NOW for him to take this next step.  

Today, Monday, August the 12th, his new program, “MONDO Show” begins at 8 pm ct on the PTL Television Network.  

Years ago, Mondo had a conversation with a very influential leader in America who recognized God’s hand on his life.  He advised him, “Just because you are called doesn’t mean you are ready for your call.” He told Mondo that Jim Bakker had much to teach him and that he needed to learn to serve under him and in time God would show him his call and appoint the right time to fulfill the call of God in his life.  Mondo has done just that gleaning as much as he could from his teacher.

 “I began to serve under Pastor Jim, learning everything about television and began to be mentored by him about how to know Christ in an intimate way. I thank Pastor Jim for believing in me and giving me an opportunity to fulfill the call of God in my life. Today Pastor Jim has become my father, my mentor, and my friend,” Mondo responded when asked about the timing of his new show.  

“On July 4th, the opening of Prayer Mountain Chapel at Morningside USA, Jim Bakker prayed and laid hands on my head and began to prophesy over me. He told me that this is my time and the beginning of God’s calling in my life. I have learned to pace myself and be patient, walking in obedience waiting for God to release the time for me to step into my calling. My show is for a generation that wants to have a real, straight forward conversation about today’s issues.”

Mondo’s show is a raw, non-polished, organic way to have a  conversation. The topics are all about life today. Subjects such as: 

Latinos in America: “America doesn’t know what to do with us”

Technology: How it is increasing so rapidly, even though many in the scientific community are loudly warning about the potential health effects

Artificial Intelligence: The way of the Future, the way of a New life

Christianity: The war to destroy Christian America, what does this look like in real life?

Bible prophecy: Where are we according to the Bible?

Politics: News headlines and how they are affecting us in today’s society

Millennials and the culture change that is taking place

Relationships: Finding love and sustaining a relationship 

 “The subject matter, the questions, are the things people are afraid to ask because it makes everyone feel nervous; even though we are all thinking about it,” Mondo said about the new show.  “I want to bring in the men and women who are making a difference in our communities, in our culture and in our lives. It’s a journey to understand the misunderstood.”  

Mondo De La Vega recognizes that more people are seeing that the times are changing. They can’t explain why or what it is but certainly what used to be considered good is now being perceived as Evil and Evil is now the new Norm. “The Christian community is having a difficult time adjusting and finding their place in society and in our culture. Our country is no longer being accepted as Christian and it has left Christianity in a state of shock.” 

In fighting this spiritual battle for our nation and our world Mondo believes we must continue to engage in conversation about today’s culture but also stresses on the most powerful:

“The most important thing we need is to pray and ask God to continue to give us wisdom and show us the way. Without the anointing, we are just another show, another film trying to compete with Hollywood. The very thing that makes us different is the anointing of the Holy Spirit. We need the anointing back in our lives.  It’s the game-changer!”

Biblical Soap Opera Massive Hit in Brazil

A soap opera based on the Biblical story of the Ten Commandments is a massive hit that is allowing its network to challenge the top channel in the country.

The program is driving the Rede Record television network to the top of the ratings.  The network, owned by the founder of Brazil’s biggest pentecostal church, has suddenly become a major player in broadcasting.

TV critics and analysts suggest the family oriented script of the program is what drives the sky-high ratings.

“There is a more conservative audience in Brazil that we’ve seen is quite strong,” said Bruno Dieguez, a communications professor at Rio’s Pontifical Catholic University.

“The Ten Commandments” has earned ratings triple any previous offering by its network.  The network has also spent more money on the show than any previous production.

“In my opinion, there should only be soaps like this one – to teach about the Bible, about family and values,” hairdresser Cristiana da Silva said, dividing her attention between the evening’s last customer and the action on screen. “This is the best soap.”

The show could be heading to the United States.  MundoFox, Fox Television’s Spanish-language channel, is negotiating for the television rights.

Fox Developing Series Based On Jesus’ Early Life

Fox is reportedly developing a series based on the life of Jesus from age 13 to 30.

The show, called “Nazareth”, is one of a series of Biblical related programs that are being placed into production after the success of the “The Bible” miniseries and the movie releases “Son of God”, “God’s Not Dead” and “Heaven Is For Real.”

David Franzoni, who helped produce “Gladiator and Amistad”, is developing “Nazareth”.  The show is the first in a production deal that Landscape Entertainment signed with Fox to create and develop event programming.

Lifetime Network has been developing a series called “The One” about Jesus growing up and realizing he is the Son of God.  NBC is in production for “A.D.: Beyond the Bible”, a sequel to the Bible miniseries.  National Geographic is working on “Killing Jesus”, a mini-series based on the book by Bill O’Reilly.

Deadspin is reporting that WGN America is considering production of a 10-part mini-series based on the Ten Commandments.

Joel Osteen’s Church Robbed Of $600,000

The 8th Commandment clearly meant little to whoever broke into the safe at Lakewood Church and stole over $600,000 in donations Sunday night.

The Houston, Texas church, home of internationally known pastor Joel Osteen, reported Monday morning that someone had broken into their safe and taken away all the donations received during the weekend’s services.

Cash, checks and credit card information was stolen.  The church says that the funds were insured, so the church will not lose revenue, but that there was no way to assure someone would not try to use the stolen account numbers for other kinds of fraud.

Donors were encouraged to check their accounts for fraudulent activity and to take steps to protect their accounts.

Church officials say $200,000 of the theft was in cash.

Houston police are investigating the theft.  The police are reviewing surveillance video from inside the church but have not named any suspects.

Co-Founder Of Crystal Cathedral Ministries Dead at 84

Arvella Schuller, who founded Crystal Cathedral Ministries with her husband Robert Schuler, has died at the age of 84.

Schuller’s family says that she suffered a brief illness last week but everyone was shocked that she passed away from the illness.  She was known as the “first lady” of Crystal Cathedral Ministries and a staunch supporter and encourager of her husband, Reverend Robert Schuller.

Schuller was the driving force behind the internationally known “Hour of Power” television program.  She developed the program as a live, local broadcast but saw the potential for the program to impact lives around the world.  She initiated the changes that turned the program into a worldwide beacon for Christ.

Broadcaster Ed Arnold, who was a volunteer announcer for Hour of Power in the 1970s, said that Arvella Schuller was the “brains behind the church.”  He said that Reverend Schuller would lay out a vision he felt God giving him and Arvella would do all she could to make that vision comes to pass.

She is survived by her husband and five children.

The Dream of a Young Evangelist

We recently celebrated my 50 year Anniversary in Ministry and what a celebration it was!  There were many people from years gone by that surprised and delighted me on the show!  It seems nearly impossible that it’s been that long, yet I can remember some things as if they were yesterday.  As a young Evangelist, I would hold revivals from Tuesday through Sunday night and then travel on Monday to the next location.

Quite often, after preaching and being in the anointing at church, I would turn on late-night TV to unwind.  There was very little to watch at that hour except Johnny Carson.  I remember listening to everything they would talk about; most of it gossip, politics or entertainment news of some variety.  It didn’t take long for me to be completely annoyed by all of the frivolous things that passed for late-night talk show content.  I remember thinking “why doesn’t someone talk about Jesus?”

It was this small, yet profound inspiration that led me to break new ground in a revolutionary Christian talk show – so that Christians could have an alternative to the world’s ‘babble’ and more people could participate in talking about Jesus!  I began on “The 700 Club” and eventually moved into pioneering “The PTL Television Network.”  PTL inspired the birth of countless other Christian talk shows.

Before long, there was an abundance of Christian programming and those who knew Jesus could now rejoice because they had an alternative  to the world’s ‘babble’.  Now that’s what I had been inspired to do  as a young Evangelist!  To see and hear so many people talking about Jesus on television was the height of my life’s dream – not only for the Christians, but for those who were to become Christians by hearing the Gospel!

Today, the dream lives on.  The times we are living in have brought many people to Christian television seeking answers for this prophetic age just before Jesus returns again.  Even the unbelievers are looking for hope.  While a large part of the world still fiddles away their time in the mindless, meaningless pursuit of trivial things, there is a beacon of light being broadcast through the darkness.  The Gospel is still being preached, the lost are still finding their way to Jesus, and the dreams of a once-young Evangelist are still coming true.
