Psalm 91 is a protection Scripture that believers have turned to for thousands of years whenever there is danger. As the Times of Trouble are upon us, the prayer of Psalm 91 is comforting and effective when prayed from the heart by those who love God and are in relationship with Him.
Psalm 91 may be the most important passage of Scripture for the Days of Revelation ahead. The reality of supernatural protection is paramount for the times of supernatural events on the horizon. Faith is not a last resort, but a first response!
Here are two ways that you can take Psalm 91 and apply it to your life right now through prayer!
Make Psalm 91 A Personal Prayer
Use the script of Psalm 91 and make it personal by changing the pronouns. God watches over His Word to perform it, so praying Psalm 91 from an “I” or “We” perspective is very effective. Praying this way puts you in the very middle of that truth and power.
If you have not prayed Scripture before, this may seem a little odd. Hang in there anyway. It is a prayer of proclamation, a proclamation of faith. This form of prayer is very different from the prayer of supplication or request. It provides a whole new point of view.
Memorize your prayer so that it is available to you (in your heart) when you need it most!
Meditate on Psalm 91
The Lord may speak to you about the meaning of certain words and what He wants you to experience as you read Psalm 91.
For example, if the word “abiding” sticks out to you, then you could pray Psalm 91 like this:
Lord, I have made a decision to dwell in Your secret place, the secret place of the Most High.
I have determined this is the intent of my heart, but I need your help to stay consistent in remaining there and abiding under Your shadow.
O Lord, In my own strength this is impossible. But, in You, O Lord, all things are possible.
Can you see how much more personal, more dialogue-like this prayer has now become? Now you have something specific you are asking of the Lord…something precise to look for as He responds.
Read Psalm 91
(New King James Version)
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge even the Most High, your dwelling place,
No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.
In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me,and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him,And show him My salvation.”
