9/11: In the Face of Evil, the Best of Humanity

A firefighter emerges from the smoke and debris of the World Trade Center. The towers were destroyed in a Sept. 11 terrorist attack. U.S. Navy Photo by Photographer Mate 2nd class Jim Watson

On the morning of Tuesday, September 11th, 2001, one of the worst terror attacks in our nation’s history, nearly 3,000 lives were erased, 6,000 people injured, and our world as we knew it not only changed, but shifted. Americans trembled as we watched our feelings of safety and security crumble to the ground. Before that day, the thought of terrorism taking place in the United States seemed unfathomable.

As our faith was shaken and our spirits shattered, we turned to God. We gathered together, filling churches across the world. We prayed together, grieved together, and found comfort in God’s love. The flag was honored again, and we stood together as One Nation Under God, ready to defend the United States with everything we had.  The lessons from that day are embedded in history and in our hearts. But sadly, the churches are not filled as they used to be and our patriotism has weakened.

On September 11th, 2001 we witnessed the worst of humanity and also the very best. After the attacks, countless stories unfolded revealing extraordinary acts of courage, sacrifice, kindness, and compassion.

The crew on board the hijacked aircraft, who in the carnage and terror, found a way to communicate what had happened and gave valuable information to the authorities.

The husbands and wives who called their spouses and families from the towers, telling them goodbye. They then began helping others escape, leading them to the stairwell, calmly reassuring them, going back for more, and in the end, losing their own lives.

The 343 firefighters, 60 police officers and 8 paramedics that gave their lives to selflessly help others to safety.

The heroes at the Pentagon who pulled victims out, as they felt the heat and flames burning at their backs but never gave up.

The crew and passengers of Flight 93 that crashed down in a field in rural Pennsylvania, never reaching its intended target because they fought back against the terrorists.

The hundreds of people who protected total strangers, giving their own shirts off their backs to cover victims mouths so that they could breathe through the cloud of deadly dust.

Today, we remember The unknown stories of the families and friends who lost someone they loved and had the courage to put their lives back together with dignity, hope and faith in God.

Genesis 50:20  But as for you, you intended to harm me, but God intended it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many lives.

We must begin to fill our churches again. We cannot allow terrorism around the world to dismantle our faith.

Please take a moment to pray today. Pray for the families of the victims that we lost on that tragic day.

Pray for the heroes of 9/11 and our military men and women who continue in the fight against terrorism and abroad.

On this sad day, ALWAYS remember that God will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER leave you and He will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER forsake you.  -Deuteronomy 31:6

God Bless America.

5.6 Earthquake Felt in six states shakes Midwest this morning

Oil Pump in Oklahoma

By Kami Klein

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) , a 5.6 earthquake rocked Pawnee, Oklahoma awake this morning, and from all reports is the largest quakes to hit Oklahoma. No casualties or damage has been reported at this time.

Posts soon after the event, from news media, facebook and twitter report the quake was also felt in Arkansas, Missouri, Texas, Illinois and Kansas.  An earthquake of comparable size last occurred in Oklahoma in about the same area in 2011 as well as a 5.1 earthquake on February 13, 2016.

The center of the quake occurred about 9 miles northwest of Pawnee, which has a population of about 2,200. and 70 miles northeast of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Several aftershocks have followed ranging from magnitude 2.9 to 3.5 and the USGS is expecting more to occur.

This will most likely continue more in depth controversy on the practice of disposing oil and gas field wastewater deep underground.  Oklahoma, a key energy producing state now rivals California in seismic events.

So far this year the state has felt 2,503 earthquakes in 2016.  A statement on the USGS website states that without studying the specifics of the wastewater injection and oil and gas production in this area, they cannot conclude whether or not this particular earthquake was caused by industrial-related human activities.  They will continue to process seismic data in the following days and weeks that will help answer this question.

World events need discernment: Lt. Col. Bob Maginnis returning to Morningside

Lt. Col. Robert Maginnis

By Kami Klein

It seems that everywhere we look, the uncertainty and controversy going on in the world  lives just beyond our understanding. Most of us try to grapple with what the local and national news agencies report, but many times they use their own commentary rather than actual facts. We are always trying to decipher and piece together the real enemy. It is no wonder that there will be times in which we turn our heads away from it all because it is just too difficult to comprehend.   Here on The Jim Bakker Show, we know that it takes someone immersed within that world to understand it.  There are truly amazing communicators who have blessed The Jim Bakker Show with discernment and experience, and they have the knowledge to bring perspective on what is REALLY happening in our world today. Lieutenant Colonel Robert (Bob) Maginnis, internationally known expert on national security and foreign affairs, is one of those communicators.

On Thursday, Sept 8th at noon, please join us on Grace Street as we welcome back Lt. Col. Maginnis back on our show.  He is a regular broadcast partner on the Prophecy Today Radio broadcast and currently serves as a national security and foreign affairs analyst for Moody Broadcasting Radio Network and Salem Radio Network.  He recently completed a year as a Fox News military analyst.

In his many roles, Colonel Maginnis has appeared on ABC, NBC and CBS evening news shows, CBS 60 Minutes, CBS This Morning, ABC Good Morning America, PBS Newshour with Jim Lehrer, MSNBC Equal Time, Hardball, Internight, and The News with Brian Williams, Fox News, The O’Reilly Factor, Hannity and Colmes, and is a regular guest on On the Record, and CNN’s Crossfire. He has been quoted many times in newspapers and magazines across the world such as The New York Times, US News & World Report and Time Magazine. Since 1993, he has written more than 500 articles, many of which have been published in distinguished newspapers and magazines nationwide.

In July 1993, Colonel Maginnis retired from an assignment in the Pentagon where he served as an Inspector General. He is an airborne-ranger infantry officer with an assignment history that includes Korea, Germany, Alaska, and several posts in the continental United States. He served in command and staff positions in four infantry divisions from platoon to division level. The colonel was the chief for the U.S. Army Infantry School’s leadership and ethics training branch. Colonel Maginnis’ service in the armed forces was commended with the Legion of Merit, one of the highest Army peacetime decorations, as well as with five meritorious medals and four commendation medals.

This is an honored man who has served the United States for decades.  His voice is one we should all be listening to.

September arrives with a visit from William Forstchen

By Kami Klein

September is upon us, and we are just weeks from a truly historical election.  Last March, Dr. William Forstchen gave his feelings regarding voting and about our place as American citizens.

“Abraham Lincoln, is one of my heroes who I rate with George Washington as one of the two greatest presidents we’ve ever had.. Abraham Lincoln once said: ‘we shall either nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of mankind.’” Forstchen added, “I believe that now. In November we shall either nobly save, or meanly lose the last best hope on Earth. That is how important this has become.”

Mr. Forstchen continued, “When the declaration was signed,  Benjamin Franklin proclaimed, ‘Gentlemen, we shall either all hang together, or we shall hang separately. And we pledge our lives and our sacred honor upon what we do here.”

“ How many of you have walked the fields of Gettysburg?” Forstchen asked. “ How many of you have looked at the thousands of graves in which Lincoln said in his infamous speech at the very end, ‘That government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from this Earth’.”

With soft emotion, William described how those soldiers, in all of our history, gave their last full measure of devotion.   He explained that he always tells people that when you walk into a voting booth, you must hold close in your heart and mind the sacrifice that millions of American’s have made. You must remember that this is not something trivial and absolutely not about some 30- second ad about who told the biggest lie..

“I want you to go in there saying to yourself that men and women gave their last full measure of devotion.  I want you to be thinking and praying before pulling the level and vote for a person that you honestly feel will respect the millions of martyrs who gave us our freedom.”
Author and Professor William Forstchen always brings stunning insights on our country and on the danger and challenges that America faces. His book, One Second After has brought reality to our door on what can happen if we ignore these dangerous times. We are so excited that he will be returning to be with us at Morningside as a guest on The Jim Bakker show Tuesday, September 6th at noon and as a very special teacher on our Prophets Speak evening program, Monday, September 5th and Tuesday the 6th at 7pm.  Our evening programs will be shown via live feed at watch us live. These are programs you will not want to miss!

After School with Satan? Satanic Temple offers after school program

By Kami Klein

On June 11, 2001 the U.S. Supreme Court came back with a decision in the Good News Club v. Milford Central School District case that confirmed equal access to public school facilities to conduct Good News after school clubs.  The Court ruled that the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF)  must have access to public school facilities, and that Bible clubs, such as the Good News Club, must be given the same access to school facilities accorded to any other non-school-related outside group.  The Satanic Temple (TST) will be offering their own after school club, and according to the Washington Post  a letter will be going out today, August 1, 2016 to various schools requesting to begin After School Satan Clubs in many elementary schools.

As stated in the letter ,the After School Satan Club (ASSC) would meet once a month immediately after school for one to one and a half hours.  The meetings would include a healthy snack, literature lesson, creative learning activities, science lessons, puzzle solving and an art project.  Each child would be required to have a signed parental permission slip to attend and receive a membership card.

Doug Mesner, who goes by the professional name of Lucien Greaves and is The Satanic Temple’s co-founder and spokesman, told the Post that it boils down to this: “If Christian evangelical groups have already staked a claim in after-school programs, why shouldn’t Satanists have a seat at the table as well?”

In their website press release,  Lucien Greaves explained, “School districts across the nation have received letters from The Satanic Temple explaining that we will be offering our clubs in their schools this coming school year, and parents in those schools can expect to be presented with a permission slip from their children in the first weeks of the Fall semester. All of the districts we’ve approached are nearby to local chapters of The Satanic Temple, and each school district has hosted, or is now hosting, Good News Clubs in their schools. This being the case, we are sure that the school districts we’ve approached are well aware that they are not at liberty to deny us use of their facilities, nor are they at liberty to deny us any level of representation in the schools that they afford to other school clubs — such as fliers, tables, brochures, and school-wide announcements. We would like to thank the Liberty Counsel, specifically, for opening the doors of public schools to the After School Satan Club through their dedication to religious liberty.  ”

The After School Satan Clubs have offered to present curriculum to some schools in these cities so far:  Atlanta GA, Los Angeles, CA, Pensacola, FL, Portland, OR, Salt Lake City, UT, Seattle, WA, Springfield, MO  Tucson, AZ and Washington, DC.

According to the letter sent to these schools, the After School Satan Clubs, (ASSC) curriculum is based on principles that teach secular moral values, critical thinking and self determination and are led by caring Satanists from local chapters in the community near the school.  These teachers are said to receive specialized training from The Satanic Temple and a background check is performed on every teacher.

According to the Washington PostThe Satanic Temple does not accept or maintain a belief in the existence of a supernatural being called Satan, or Lucifer or Beelzebub. Basically the TST promotes the view that scientific rationing and rejecting all forms of supernaturalism provides the best measure of reality.

According to Lucien Greaves, “Satan” is just a “metaphorical construct” intended to represent the rejection of all forms of tyranny over the human mind.

Greaves also states in the TST press release that, “It’s important that children be given an opportunity to realize that the evangelical materials now creeping into their schools are representative of but one religious opinion amongst many. While the Good News Clubs focus on indoctrination, instilling them with a fear of Hell and God’s wrath, After School Satan Clubs will focus on free inquiry and rationalism, the scientific basis for which we know what we know about the world around us. We prefer to give children an appreciation of the natural wonders surrounding them, not a fear of everlasting other-worldly horrors.”

According to the Washington Post interview, Lucien Greaves addressed the question of whether the Satanic Temple really wants religion, even it’s own, in public schools. “We are only doing this because Good News Clubs have created a need for this. If Good News Clubs would operate in churches rather than public schools, that need would disappear. But our point is that if you let one religion into the public schools you have to let others, otherwise it’s an establishment of religion.”

In the fight over religious freedoms and freedom of speech in the United States, many will be asking themselves which line is worth crossing and which is worth fighting to be upheld? This story will play itself out in the future.

In today’s world, what does that mean for our children and our schools?

According to the Supreme Court, what is fought for in the Christian community must be offered to all religious groups.

How will our communities answer?

Dangerously Hot Weather for Most of the Country

By Kami Klein

Heat is one of the leading weather-related killers in the United States, resulting in hundreds of fatalities each year and even more heat-related illnesses.  You only have to step outside for a few minutes to see how fast an illness or death could happen.

According to the National Weather Forecast,  hot and very humid conditions will push the heat index to well over 100 degrees across a large portion of the central U.S. this week. Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories are in effect for much of the Plains, Mississippi Valley, Midwest and southern states. The heat will spread eastward by this weekend.

Be very cautious if you must do outdoor activities during the afternoon and evening. Stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade.  Check on the elderly, sick and those without air conditioning.  Look before you lock your doors to be sure you are not leaving children or pets behind.

Please be safe! Nobody is immune to heat and ALL heat related deaths and illnesses are preventable!
