Beijing pressuring the Philippines, Vietnam, and Taiwan to give up territorial rights over South China Sea

Revelations 6:3-4 “when he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” 4 And out came another horse, bright red. Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword.

Important Takeaways:

  • Asian countries push back on China demand
  • Beijing is demanding that Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Taiwan surrender their territorial rights to the South China Sea. But all have rejected its claim of “historical” ownership of the 3.5 million square kilometer waterway.
  • Now escalating military pressure from China is forcing the traditionally non-aligned South East Asian states to seek mutual and international support.
  • “The situation in the South China Sea is far from stable,” Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) analyst Greg Poling says.
  • “Chinese vessels engaged in dangerous and escalatory encounters with those of other states regularly throughout 2022.”
  • Now Jakarta has put Beijing in a position where it must either put up or shut up.
  • Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) regional bloc produced a statement stating China’s artificial island fortresses and aggressive behavior at sea, “have eroded trust and confidence, increased tensions and may undermine peace, security and stability in the region”.

  • The US Navy also conducted joint exercises with the Marine Corps in the South China Sea over the weekend – which they described as ‘integrated expeditionary strike force.’
  • Explaining the drills on Saturday, the 7th Fleet said: ‘The mobility and sustainability provided by amphibious platforms gives the Navy and Marine Corps team an asymmetric advantage in a maritime environment.

New object shot down: Fourth mystery object; officials say unrelated to Chinese balloon

Revelations 6:3-4 “when he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” 4 And out came another horse, bright red. Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword.

Important Takeaways:

  • US Shoots down 4 Mystery Objects in 8 Days: ‘It’s Very Disturbing’
  • S. fighter jets shot down another unidentified flying object over the weekend, this one over Lake Huron in Michigan on Sunday. This is the fourth flying object to be shot down in North American airspace in just eight days.
  • The Pentagon says they’re still trying to determine what exactly the objects are and what they’re doing.
  • Officials say the latest octagon-shaped device was unmanned and floating above sensitive sites at only about 20,000 feet. The Pentagon says they aren’t ruling anything out – not even UFO’s.
  • Fighter jets also shot down objects over Alaska and Canada over the weekend. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said, “it represented a reasonable threat to civilian aircraft. Canadian and American fighter jets were scrambled, and an American F-22 successfully shot down the object.”
  • The pilots who took out the flying object over Alaska on Friday described it as a type of small airship that interfered with their sensors before they shot it down. While the Pentagon says these objects do not appear to be related to the giant Chinese spy balloon that was shot down off the South Carolina coast, officials are still trying to determine if China is responsible.
  • For now, there are more questions than answers about what these mysterious flying objects are, what their purpose is and who’s behind them

Ignorance of the Bible is problem in the church and the home

Revelation 3:14 ““To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:  These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. 15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.   19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Important Takeaways:

  • Ignorance Of The Bible Isn’t Just A Problem In Our Culture—It’s A Problem In The Church
  • Multiple surveys reveal the problem in stark terms. Most Christians in the United States believe the Bible teaches, “God helps those who help themselves” (and some even believe this quote is a Bible verse). A series of Barna surveys shows that only 19% of “born again Christians” hold to the simplest elements of a basic biblical worldview.
  • A Barna poll once indicated that at least 12 percent of adults believe that Joan of Arc might be Noah’s wife.
  • Another survey of graduating high school seniors revealed that over 50 percent thought that Sodom and Gomorrah were husband and wife
  • A considerable number of respondents to one poll indicated that Billy Graham preached the Sermon on the Mount.
  • The larger scandal is biblical ignorance among Christians. Choose whichever statistic or survey you like, the general pattern is the same among professing Christians. America’s Christians know less and less about the Bible. It shows.
  • Bible teaching now often accounts for only a diminishing fraction of the local congregation’s time and attention.
  • Youth ministries are asked to fix problems, provide entertainment, and keep kids busy. But how many local church youth programs actually substantially increase their Bible knowledge during the critical junior high and high school years?
  • Recovery starts at home. Parents are to be the first and most important educators of their own children, diligently teaching them the Word of God (see Deuteronomy 6:4–9). Parents cannot pass their responsibility off to the congregation, no matter how faithful and biblical it may be.
