Maine Mother Fighting Government’s Attempts To Let Her Baby Die

A Maine mother is fighting the state to stop them from letting her baby die.

Six-month-old Aleah Peaslee was shaken so badly by her father Kevin that she initially went into a coma from a severe brain injury.  While in the coma, doctors said the baby had little chance of survival and the family agreed to a do not resuscitate order.

The baby was taken off a ventilator and placed in her mother’s arms with everyone expecting her to pass into glory.

Instead, the baby kept breathing and improving in the arms of her 18-year-old mother, Virginia.  Days later, the baby came out of the coma.  Virginia asked for the DNR to be lifted for her child and the hospital refused saying that the baby still had brain damage.  Then the government stepped in.

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services kept going to court until they found a judge that would give them the power to keep the DNR in place.  They claimed “neither parent can be counted on to be physically or emotionally available to make the necessary informed decision when needed.”

The Alliance Defending Freedom is standing up with the mother.

“The state is effectively arguing that this mom isn’t fit to make medical decisions for her child simply because she wants the child to live,” ADF Senior Counsel Steven Aden said.  “No one has declared this mother an unfit parent, yet the government wants to take her place.  The Maine Supreme Judicial Court should reaffirm Mainers’ interest in life, parental rights, and the integrity of the medical profession by reversing the lower court and restoring this mom’s full rights to make medical decisions on her daughter’s behalf.”

Maine’s Governor Paul LePage has said he will defend the life of the baby even if he has to defy the state’s Supreme Court.

Lori’s House Update

I am so excited about Lori’s House! We are approaching the time when we can finally open it and welcome our first girls in! We’re not quite there yet, but it’s soon… very soon. We have the right people in place now, and we are moving rapidly to finish the building and create a safe place where ministry, love, rest, learning, fellowship and caring will take place with its main goal of saving babies and caring for their mothers.

There will be no charge to a young woman who wants to live at Lori’s House through her pregnancy. The ministry, through generous donations, will provide assistance for food, clothing and medical care. Education and job training will be provided and an individual program will be tailored depending on each girl’s special needs.

Through it all, she will be comfortable, safe and “at home.” Continue reading

Southern Baptist Leader Calls Out “Abortion Ministry”

The president of the Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission is calling out a man who is telling people that he is killing babies through abortion as a “ministry.”

Dr. Willie Parker, a former medical director for Planned Parenthood, has been performing abortions (including late term abortions) at a clinic in Jackson, Mississippi.  He has been leading the fight against the state’s law requiring better health care standards for abortion clinics and for doctors to have admitting rights at hospitals if they perform abortions.

Dr. Parker claims that he is doing “abortion ministry” by killing babies for women who don’t want to become mothers.  He compares himself to the good Samaritan of the Bible and even had a newspaper feature championing his “abortion ministry.”  He said he can’t understand why people think he might not be a Christian.

“The protesters say they’re opposed to abortion because they’re Christian,” Parker explained. “It’s hard for them to accept that I do abortions because I’m a Christian.”

Southern Baptist ERLC head Russell Moore says that people question Dr. Parker as a Christian because he’s killing babies for profit.  He also says Parker’s claims that he’s like the “good Samaritan” are flawed at the core.

“That would be true, of course, if the Samaritan in Jesus’ story had euthanized the neighbor, to put him out of his misery. Of course, he didn’t. Instead, the Samaritan took the neighbor on as his own kin, nursing him back to health and caring for him, a picture that looks a lot like what many of the pro-life churches and organizations Parker dismisses are, in fact, doing for women in crisis and their babies,” said Moore.

“We can pray that this abortion doctor hears and receives that sort of mercy that transforms the direction and purpose of his life. We can pray for a ‘come to Jesus’ moment that puts him on the right side of the Jericho Road.”

Let’s Be God’s People!

The Bible tells us that if we do what God says, we will be a nation that will lend and not borrow. The Bible says that! And if we disobey God and rebel, we will be a debtor.

Guess what? We are the number one debtor nation in the world! But because we are not studying those Scriptures, we don’t realize that America is under judgment. And the only way we can change it, [the Bible] says “If my people will humble themselves and pray, turn, He says I’ll hear in heaven and heal their land.

The thing I keep saying is one day, I will say it on TV; “Order your food today,” and, that will be the last time I will ever be able to say it. And, the food will all be gone. And, those who have it, then they will have life at least a little simpler than having to go out and find food somewhere. Continue reading
