Argentina Flooding Death Toll Rises

The flash flooding in Buenos Aires and surrounding areas has killed at least 57 people. The suburb of La Plata had the highest total of 51 dead.

The government reports that the flood has destroyed over 100,000 homes. Power is still out throughout the region as most lines were knocked down during the flooding. Government workers are distributing water, food and clothing. Continue reading

Mauritius Flooding Kills 11

Hard rain caused severe flooding in the Mauritian capital city of Port Louis on Saturday killing at least 11 and leaving thousands homeless.

Eight of the dead were caught in underground areas when the flood waters rose too rapidly for officials to evacuate threatened areas. Continue reading

North Dakota Residents Told: “Get Ready for a Big One”

The National Weather Service has told residents of the Fargo, North Dakota area to prepare for what could be record flooding this spring.

City and county officials are calling for government action after the NWS forecasted that the Red River will likely crest at a level that would place it among the five highest in history. England is facing a double whammy of flooding and heavy snowfall that is disrupting travel and electrical services.

South America Flooding Kills 6

The Pacific coast of South America is experiencing massive flooding after torrential rain deluged the region. At least six people are confirmed dead in Peru.

Arequipa in the southern part of the country has thousands left without electricity and clean drinking water due to the massive flooding. Peruvian authorities have declared a state of emergency for Arquipa and the surrounding regions. The country’s national meteorological service told the Andina news agency that the total rainfall in seven hours matched the average rainfall for three months. Continue reading
