The Novel Coronavirus has killed a Tunisian man in the first reported case of the virus in Africa.
The 66-year-old victim had visited Saudi Arabia where the virus is known to be active. He had been complaining of breathing problems since his return from his travels and died in a hospital.
Two of his children have been confirmed to have also contracted the virus.
The virus has killed 20 of 41 confirmed victims.
The World Health Organization says the new cases don’t change their assessment as to the infectiousness of the virus but it does confirm that the virus is still spreading beyond the Middle East.
The WHO noted that all cases outside the Middle East have a connection to that region.
