Morningside featured in local Business Spotlight article

Morningside was recently featured in the Business Spotlight article of the local Branson Tri-Lakes Newspaper:

Morningside is more than meets the eye!

Morningside may be best-known as the studio where “The Jim Bakker Show” is recorded, but all it takes is one visit to realize it’s much more than that.

Morningside features numerous condos, which can be rented for a night or purchased as a new home, a chapel, general store, restaurant and even a beauty salon.

In fact, the Morningside General Store recently expanded the hours it’s open — to all of the time.

“Anything we can do to better serve our partners and guests,” retreat manager Wendy Youngblood said.

She said the new hours will save those who live at Morningside from having to take a long trip if they have a late-night craving or an emergency need.

And the general store can fill just about any need, offering everything from food and cooking supplies to books, CDs and Christian gifts.

For groceries, the store features a traditional variety, along with many natural and vegan foods, which can be hard to find in the area.

“Pastor Jim preaches and teaches on the importance of eating right,” Youngblood said. “So we have a huge, huge selection of organic foods.”

It’s a similar story just across the “street,” at Morningside’s Fireside Café. Youngblood said one of the restaurant’s most popular choices is its fruit and salad bar, which is made fresh daily.

But the café, which can cater for several hundred, also has a diverse menu that includes traditional meals, as well as options for vegetarians and vegans, like its specialty lintel burger.

Every Saturday, the restaurant prepares a massive breakfast buffet, and on the last Saturday of every month, it offers all-you-can eat pancakes free of charge.

“We just want to let the community know we’re here to serve them,” Youngblood said.

“The Jim Bakker Show” is taped live every weekday at 10:30 a.m. in Morningside. Admission is free to be a member of the studio audience.

Morningside is tucked away off Missouri 86, just east of downtown Blue Eye.
