Molasses Spill Kills All Wildlife In Its Path

Revelation 6:7,8 NCV When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come!"8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse. Its rider was named death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill people by war, by starvation, by disease, and by the wild animals of the earth.

A pipe’s failure led to tons of molasses being dumped into a Hawaii harbor near Honolulu killing all the marine life in its path.

Over 1,400 tons of molasses was released into the ocean creating over 200,000 gallons of sugar water. In addition, the molasses is sinking to the bottom of the ocean and coating the sea floor. Fish and other marine life are unable to escape the sticky substance and die from lack of oxygen.

Officials say the molasses has to disintegrate on its own and there is little that can be done to speed up the process.

“It’s not like an oil spill where the oil will rise to the surface and it can be skimmed out mechanically,” Department of Health deputy director Gary Gill explained. “There’s no way that we’ve identified to reduce the molasses that’s already in the water.”

Matson shipping company took responsibility for the spill and said they would cover all the costs for the cleanup without passing it along to taxpayers or customers.
