Iraq Sees Most Violent Month In Years

Mark 13:8 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.

The UN released casualty figures that shows over 1,000 people were killed in July.

The UN report states that the death toll was the highest monthly total in 5 years.

“The impact of violence on civilians remains disturbingly high,” UN Iraq representative Gyorgy Busztin told the BBC. “Iraq’s political leaders must take immediate and decisive action to stop the senseless bloodshed.”

Baghdad was the heaviest hit area with 238 deaths and 719 injuries.

Over 4,100 civilians have been killed in 2013 in Iraq. The year has already passed the totals of the last four years and is on pace to top the 6,787 total from 2008.
