Gosnell Waives Right To Appeal In Return For Life

Matthew 19:18 ESV “And Jesus said, “You shall not murder…”

Editor’s Note: Throughout the scriptures, God has made it clear that shedding innocent blood is murder, and no murderer will enter heaven. In addition to the death of the unborn baby, abortion also substantially harms the women and many times, families, husbands, boyfriends and a whole sphere of relationships connected to and surrounding each abortion. Often, lifelong guilt and other social, relational, spiritual and even physical problems follow the murder of innocent babes in the womb. Pastor Jim Bakker believes that this issue, abortion, may be the single most significant issue that brings God’s judgment on this nation more than any other.

Former abortionist and convicted mass murderer Kermit Gosnell cut a deal with prosecutors to avoid the death penalty.

In return for giving up his right to appeal his convictions on the murders of three babies and involuntary manslaughter of a patient, Gosnell will be sentenced to life in prison without parole.

The agreement ended the need for a “penalty” phase for the trial. Gosnell was sentenced Tuesday on two of the murder convictions with a third sentence scheduled for Wednesday.

Gosnell, who was not a board-certified obstetrician or gynecologist, was also convicted on 21 counts of abortion of the unborn 24 weeks or older. Penalties for those convictions will be folded into the other sentences.

“From a pragmatic perspective, it can take decades for a defendant to exhaust all of his appeals from a sentence of death. Given his advanced age, it is likely that Gosnell would die on death row before this process runs its course,” law professor O. Carter Snead of the University of Notre Dame told Fox. “More importantly, in my judgment, principles of justice are served by a sentence of life without parole in this case. There has been quite enough bloodshed because of this evil man’s actions.”

The lawyer for Gosnell said his client is at peace now that he knows “what his fate is.”
