“O’ God — Change me.”

I have found it to be true in most cases that when we are having problems at work or at home with our family, we tend to blame someone else. Why are we so stubborn? Sometimes when we are angered or frustrated our inner thoughts may go like this; “How can others be so hard-hearted? Especially when they know I’m doing the best I can! Is this what I get for being kind? It’s the other person who needs to change, not me!”

Isn’t it always the other person’s fault from our perception? What’s the answer to this dilemma? Well, the answer is only found in the study of God’s word. If you are an honest seeker of the solution to this question, then experience, persistence and prayer will always bring forth the true answers.

No amount of counseling will have much of an impact until God’s people resolve something. We have to look at ourselves and examine our heart. The following has to be a sincere prayer from our heart.

“O’ God –change me!”

We spend far too much time praying, “God change my circumstances, change my coworkers, change my family situation and change the conditions in my life.” This all sounds good but what about the most important prayer:

“Change me, Lord.”

The real trouble isn’t my spouse, my children or my friends. I’m the one who stands in need of being changed. This can only be done through much prayer.

Like it or not we’re all in the process of changing, (no one stays the same) in one way or another. In the spiritual realm there is no such thing as mere existence–we’re continually being changed, either for good or for bad. We’re either becoming more like our Lord or more like the world, either growing in Christ or backsliding.

Are you allowing bitterness to take root and turn your heart to a cold, cold person? Are some of us so stubborn that we don’t care who we hurt along the way? Are we stuck in our ways and unwilling to change? Is everyone else wrong? Many homes are broken up because of the unwillingness of individuals to go the extra mile. Many lives are destroyed.

Sincerely and humbly cry out to the Lord and pray: “Change me, Oh God, dig deep in me, show me where I’ve failed and gone astray. Expose my pride, anger, stubbornness and sin. Help me to lay it all down.”

Your miracle is dependent upon your willingness to be changed!

What is so great is that God will always be there with His arms extended to lend a helping hand.

Here some Biblical facts that show how God feels about you:

I know everything about you — Psalm 139:1

……Even the very hairs on your head are numbered — Matthew 10:29-31

……I am your Father, and I love you even as I love my son, Jesus. John 17:23

……I gave up everything I loved that I might gain your love — Romans 8:31-32

……And nothing will ever separate you from my love again. Romans 8:38-39

……I have always been Father, and will always be Father. Ephesians 3:14-15

……My question is… Will you be my child? John 1:12-13 ……I am waiting for you — Luke 15:11-32

What a wonderful Lord! God’s promises are yes and amen! Our loving Father is ever willing and ready to help us in whatever circumstances come our way. Just remember to inquire of the Lord and search your own heart. Always be quick to forgive. Resist the temptation to become bitter and resentful. Continue to be pliable and allow the Lord to mold you and change you for the better.
