This new year, 2015, I was reminded again after reading from Oswald Chamber’s book, “My Utmost for His Highest” of my true love for Jesus. I had to ask myself some questions.
Am I as filled to overflowing with love for Jesus Christ as I was in the beginning, when I went out of my way to prove my devotion to Him? Does He ever find me pondering the time when I cared only for Him?
Jeremiah 2:2 NKJV – “Thus says the Lord; I remember…the kindness of your youth…”
I’ve asked myself, “Is that where I am now? Has busyness taken priority over my time with Jesus? Have I chosen man’s wisdom over true love for Him?”
This self-examination has been good for me. Once again, I have decided and determined to make room for God, for Him to have first place.
Galatians 1:15 NKJV – “When it pleased God…”
I desire to keep my heart so constantly in touch with God that His surprising power can break through at any point. I want to stay in a constant state of expectancy, and allow God to do whatever He desires whenever He decides. He knows best and my life belongs to Him.
My husband and I are honored and blessed to have our home as a place of meeting with our Lord and Savior every Sunday evening. Over 30 brothers and sisters meet to lift Jesus up in praise and worship and to grow in the word as the Holy Spirit leads.
Jesus said we are strong in numbers. We are not only strong in the spirit, but we have become a family that knows their God and each other. The fellowship we share gives us the opportunity to serve Jesus Christ and each other. There is no greater love than to love each other as Jesus has loved us.
Beware of anything that competes with your loyalty to Jesus Christ. The greatest competitor of true devotion to Jesus is the service we do for Him. It is easier to serve than to completely pour out our lives for Him. Sometimes we get so busy serving God that there is no time for God! Are we more devoted to service than we are to Jesus Christ Himself?
We all are called by God.
Matthew 6:33 NKJV – “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Isaiah 6:8 NKJV “I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
Let this year 2015 be the year you will say “Here I am, Lord, send me.”
