The other day I woke up with not a lot of joy in my heart. So much has been going on in my life this past month. God has been so very good, but for some reason I didn’t feel the JOY that I normally do each morning. After a quick conversation with the Lord, and prayer, I continued to get ready for work and go about my Father’s business for the day.
At work we corporately come together for prayer each day. It wasn’t long after we started praying that my supervisor shared the importance of maintaining Joy in our daily duties as the enemy comes to steal, rob and destroy it. She mentioned how important Joy was in every aspect of our lives. And the enemy also knows the importance it is for us.
We need to choose to maintain the Joy of the Lord at all times. For whatever reason I woke up lacking my Joy, I quickly after hearing and praying with the prayer team, renewed my heart with the joy of the Lord.
Throughout the day, the Lord shared with me the importance of His Word and speaking His Word. Also, He emphasized the impact and importance of sharing our testimony. As I continued in this manner, I found my Joy would soon return.
I am so very thankful to the Lord God, for His goodness and mercies that are new every morning. (Lamentations 3:22-23) A reminder that no matter how we feel when we first arise in the morning, that if we just take a moment first thing, and draw close to our Father in Heaven, all is well. No matter what the day holds or brings, I know Who holds it and Who is with me in whatever comes.
I choose to choose Joy!! I pray that you, too, will choose to choose Joy! The Joy of the Lord is my strength. Is He your’s today? Draw close to Him and He will draw close to you. Seek Him while He may be found.
Isaiah 55:6—“Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:”
I know that as we all make that choice to choose Joy, the world will be a better place for it.
I am so very thankful that I am a child of God. The gift of His Holy Spirit is more than I could have ever imagined.
Scripture references are from the New King James Version.
Nehemiah 8:10…“Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Psalm 30:5 — “…joy comes in the morning…”
Psalm 43:4 — “…To God my exceeding Joy;…”
John 15:11 — These thing I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.”
Deuteronomy 4:29 — “…you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Psalm 63:1 — “…Early will I seek you…”
It is so good to know that it is His Joy that I put on each day and His Joy sustains me through and through. I know He will do the same for you! Praise God!
Thank you for tip on regaining joy!
The “loss of joy” has been a topic in this household for the last few days, so your article was very timely.
