What is Grace? People have different ideas of what it is. The first scripture reference about Grace that most of us know is Ephesians 2: 8-9, which reads as follows: “For by Grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” NKJV
Amazing Grace is a hymn that is well known to everyone. We love to sing and express our gratefulness to the Lord for saving us when we were walking in darkness and had no knowledge of Him! When the burden of sin we carried was lifted off of us, our lives were changed forever!
How well I remember the day I was born again! I was 11 years old when I walked down the center aisle at our church and asked Jesus to come into my heart and forgive my sins. Little did I know at that time how exciting my life would be, nor did I have any idea of what I would encounter along life’s way. I only knew that Jesus was my Savior and I wanted to give my life to Him.
I had much to learn and much healing to be done in my soul, but I realized that God was Holy and I wanted to serve Him with my whole heart! Perhaps it was my age, perhaps it was the teaching at my home church, but whatever the reason, I did not understand the depth of the Grace of God and I began relying on my being good, and walking in self-righteousness. It was a number of years later when I began to understand the marvelous Grace of God.
There is an old hymn called “God Leads His Dear Children Along”. One of the lines in the song states: “Some through the waters, some through the flood, Some through the fire, But all through the blood. Some through great sorrow, But God gives a song, in the night season and all the day long.”
We all walk different paths in our life, but it is His Grace that carries us through! Another way to express Grace is “the very Power of God working in our lives.” We are not only saved by His Grace, but we are kept by His Grace! It is in our weakness that we experience the abundance of His Grace working in our lives. Truly His Grace is sufficient for everything we face in this life.
Today in the Body of Christ we are hearing much teaching on the Grace of God. It is a message of liberty to those who have been bound by legalism when they get the revelation of His Grace working in their lives. Some have never realized how much the Father loves them until they hear the message of Grace. It is Grace that enables us to live a godly life and not sin!
However, there is another Grace gospel being taught today that is pure error! It has misled many! Those that have hungered after righteousness have embraced Grace in its purest form and have grown in the Grace and the Knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Those, however, that have been looking for a loophole and who have not surrendered their lives completely, are being deceived. They have perverted the Grace of God into being a license to sin. They believe a lie!
Jude 4 bears this out, “For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness (lawlessness) and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.” NKJV “
2 Thessalonians 2: 10-11 states, “because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And, for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie.” NKJV
Strong delusion has invaded the church today! God, Himself, has sent this strong delusion because many did not love truth! We see professing Christians living in sin and actually propagating lawlessness. We need watchmen on the Wall as many are not aware of what is happening and are open prey for the enemy! Not only is there an exaggerated view of Grace, being preached today, there is the deification of man, the challenge of the authority of the Word, the rejection of hell, and universal reconciliation. These are heresies!
We are warned throughout the Word of God about being deceived. We need to be on guard and realize that there are wolves in sheep’s clothing in the church today. They come and cunningly seduce the unsuspecting with their manipulation and false doctrine, which at times seems believable to those who are not firmly grounded in the Word of God.
If we are truly hungering and thirsting after righteousness He will lead us on into our destiny in Him and what He has called us to do in this life. We serve a faithful God!
Grace, grace, God’s marvelous grace.
