Isaiah 9:6 KJV — “And His Name shall be called…Prince of Peace.”
This not only reveals that Jesus overflows with peace, but that all in His Kingdom are called to be of the same peacefully flowing spirit.
Isaiah 66:12 KJV — “I will extend peace to her like a river…”
Matthew 23:37 — “…as He longed to gather Jerusalem as a hen gathers her chicks so He wants us to rest contentedly under His wings.”
God deeply desires that no one be hurt, fearful or worried in His Kingdom. He desires for His people to fiercely protect and maintain their peace and confidence in Him. And, as we keep our minds on Him, Jesus keeps us in perfect peace. Isaiah 26:3.
I see it as a great blanket of calmness, like that which falls on Jerusalem on Friday evenings when Shabbat begins. A palpable peace drops over the city, businesses close, the bustle of traffic ceases and families go home to celebrate the Shabbat rest together, as they have for thousands of years. Quiet descends as they honor God’s loving command that His people desist from work and joyfully partake of His rest.
Ephesians 6:15 — “And having shod your feet with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace…”
The preparation of the Gospel of Peace on our feet is a part of our defensive armor. Our feet touch the world each day and we must take care not to walk where they will be defiled, but to be ready to share the Good News of the Gospel of Peace that is available to all people. As people around us see us reacting to the vicissitudes of life, they can glimpse Jesus in us as we hold fast to Him and His Peace through every circumstance.
But the feet of many in the Kingdom of darkness are shod in the shoes of unrest, injury and terror. The peace in us is more than enough to neutralize their influence, but many in our Kingdom are vulnerable to their terror, control and intimidation. Are you in terror of losing your job, your house, your mate, your children, your place of influence, your savings, your reputation or even your head?
Jesus wants to subdue all these fears, dropping the reassurance of His care and providence over them. He will cause all things to submit to His peace if we will let them go out of our hands and into His. We then find ourselves in this Peaceable Kingdom, where we live in calm, gentle quietude. We may be fully assured that He wants to keep our hearts in Peace and will do so as we give Him our trust.
Matthew 5:9 says “Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the sons of God.”
Jesus, the Prince of Peace, gave His very own peace to us, knowing how desperately we would need a perfect peace as only He can give. John 14:27. He desires that we choose to appropriate it and utilize it here on earth to bless others. By faith we partake of Christ’s rich peace and we become able to speak peace and calm to the storms of life.
The anointing of peace upon us quiets the hearts of people around us, quelling their fears, anger, complaints and strife. It soothes their hurts and dispels the enemy’s harassments. God calls us all to be carriers of His peace to a world erupting in confusion and terror, and suffocating for a lack of prayer.
Isaiah 9:7 — “Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end…”
Peace is the fruit of the Spirit that grows in us as we allow the Holly Spirit free rein in our lives. Picture yourself sitting on a horse with the Holy Spirit seated behind you. Then hand Him the reins and lean back against Him, letting Him take you wherever He pleases. This is the life of rest, receiving God’s Will sweetly, moment by moment.
Peace comes with a full resignation of your will to the Prince of Peace, who governs with ever increasing Peace. So, even in Eternity our peace shall grow stronger and stronger. Will He “ride you” into places you don’t want to go, through circumstances difficult and painful?
Yes, of course, at times. That is how Jesus is formed in us. But, as you ride through hardship, your confidence in His care, His wisdom, His power and His love grows greatly and you are drawn deeper into His Peaceable Kingdom, riding from strength to strength and glory to glory!
For He Himself is our Peace! Ephesians 2:14
Sar Shalom is the Hebrew phrase for Prince of Peace. Sar means Prince andShalom means Peace, but also health, contentment, wholeness, prosperity, fulfillment and well-being. It includes restoration, giving what is necessary to make a person whole again. It provides fully for every need, giving a divinely-wrought sense of deep fulfillment, contentment, harmony and restfulness. Jesus Himself is our Peace, our rich Shalom, and as we enter into deeper fellowship with Him, we will easily experience this wonderful peace, free to all who ask Him for it.

Jer_8:11 For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Rev 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
