“What? Who? Me? An ambassador?? You must be kidding, Sharon—Not me!” Yes, Friend, I’m talking to you! And yes, I called you an ambassador! And what’s this greeting all about? Well, it all has to do with how God views you! God has a lot to say about your identity and it is a good report!
Satan does not want you to realize how valuable and precious you are to God. The evil one tries to convince you that your life is of no importance. He wants to hinder your walk and effectiveness for God’s Kingdom. He wants to rob you of confidence in God’s love for you. Often we hear tormenting thoughts saying how we aren’t appreciated–nothing will ever change–or our life doesn’t matter. Allowing these defeatist thoughts can result in a dark cloud of depression over-taking our life. If this continues, it can cause us to sink deeper into a pit of despair. BUT GOD!!
While Satan works overtime to convince you of your insignificance, God says otherwise! Your life has more influence than you may realize and God has assigned to you special credentials that were received by you when you accepted Jesus as your Savior. So what is God’s advice to you when these fiery darts target your brain? STOP THEM!! Stop thinking that way – take those thoughts captive and replace them with the Word of God. God’s Word tells us how to offset these mental attacks from the enemy.
II Corinthians 10:5—“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” KJV
That reminds me about several years ago when I attended a conference. The speaker invited all of us who wanted prayer to come up front and she would pray for us. When she saw me she asked, “Are you a foreigner?? (Why she asked this I have no idea because I don’t have any obvious ethnic characteristics or strong accent.) Without any forethought my immediate response was; “Yes, I’m from a different planet!!” (meaning originally from Heaven). What came out of my mouth even surprised me! It was then I realized that God had so totally convinced me that I was His ambassador that it just rose up out of me! Everyone got a good laugh out of it as well!!
So how important is your life to God? Obviously our Creator thought your life was valuable enough to send Jesus Christ to this earth to redeem you! No one can be of greater worth than the blood of Jesus! Paul describes us as Ambassadors for Christ in II Corinthians 5:20–“Now then we are ambassadors for Christ…” (KJV) What an honor that God would designate us as His ambassadors! Ambassadors are given recognition in the world’s system and they carry official communications from one country to another. They have the authority to represent their government. Surely you don’t really think that an ambassador’s life is not important—even if it is yours? You represent God’s Kingdom!
Ambassador __________ (put your name in there). That is who you are! So own it! See yourself as representing Christ wherever you go—at school, work, the grocery store, shopping, talking with neighbors, texting, phoning, emailing, tweeting, etc…
So what if you aren’t able to get out very often, are handicapped or house-bound? Can you still be an effective ambassador? Yes!! If you are willing, you can be an “ambassador of prayer”!! Many desperately need prayer and prayer touches God’s throne. God chooses to bring His will to earth through prayer. WOW! Meditate on that! Throughout the Bible we are encouraged to inquire of the Lord, pray Biblically sound prayers and pray about everything.
The will of God is revealed in His Word. Nothing is more important than praying God’s plans and purposes into a situation. When first starting out as a “prayer ambassador” you may find yourself not knowing what to pray for beyond your own needs. May I make a few suggestions?? Consider praying about the Revelation events that are accelerating, the increase of violence and impeding wars. Pray for the protection of God’s people throughout the world. Intercede for the ministries that you believe in and support. Church leaders are being attacked by the enemy and need intercessors praying for them. And, of course, your loved ones always need prayer. Your prayers make a difference!
Pray for the Body of Christ throughout the world to be strong in these last days and not compromise. We are instructed in the Bible to pray for our leaders. Ask God to protection our military and law enforcement while in harm’s way. Pray about the influence of the world’s system on our youth today and our educational system. Call out to the Lord for more laborers to bring in the end-time harvest of souls. Pray Father’s heart for more people to be saved and receive eternal life by accepting Jesus as their Savior. (John 3:16) The Lord desires that none should perish!!
Luke 10:2—“Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”
II Peter 3:9—“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness;
but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
When the Prayer Team at Morningside prays for the lost, we often sense the Father’s great love for mankind. Intercession connects you with God and many prayer warriors throughout the world. Spirit-led prayers can be a wonderful experience with the Lord. Your prayers can impact many lives. Why do you think the enemy tries so hard to interrupt, distract or divert our thoughts when we go to prayer? The devil knows that the prayers of the righteous avails much and thwarts his destructive plans.
James 5:16—“…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” KJV
I hope you are beginning to accept this new concept of being an ambassador for the Lord. When you were born again, you became a member of God’s Kingdom. You represent Christ. You are RE-PRESENTING Christ to the world through your life, love and outreach to others. You might even be the only Christian that someone has encountered for a long time. (Don’t forget to smile! ☺)
Following is a poem that the Lord gave me years ago during a time of great struggle. Like many of you, I just needed to hear from God. The Lord encouraged me with these words which I hope with be uplifting to you as well. It helps to know HOW to fulfill our calling as Christ’s ambassadors.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN SOMEONE’S LIFE TODAY,
SHARE GOD’S LOVE WITH OTHERS ALONG LIFE’S WAY.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE BY HOW AND WHAT YOU SAY,
KEEP YOUR WORDS KIND AND DON’T GO ASTRAY.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE BY HELPING THOSE IN NEED,
REMEMBER, DON’T BE SELFISH – LET GO OF GREED.
HAVING AN INFLUENCE IS POSSIBLE WHEN NO ONE’S AROUND,
FAITHFUL PRAYERS AND WARFARE KEEP THE ENEMY BOUND.
A CHANGE CAN BE MADE WHEN STORMS OF LIFE COME,
TURN TO GOD’S WORD–PRAY TO THE HOLY ONE.
A DIFFERENCE IS MADE WHEN YOU ANSWER THE LORD’S CALL,
IN GOD’S WAY OF RANKING – THE OBEDIENT STAND TALL.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE – HOW? – WHY? — WHAT CAN YOU DO?
LIVE YOUR LIFE FOR OTHERS – JESUS DID IT FOR YOU!
AS AMBASSADORS THIS IS WHAT CHRISTIANS ARE CALLED TO DO,
WITH HELP AND GUIDANCE, GOD’S SPIRIT TAKES YOU THROUGH.
YES, YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHILE HERE ON EARTH,
YOU WERE ORDAINED FOR THIS BEFORE YOUR VERY BIRTH!
