In review of last week’s first installment of “Get Ready” we learned that being prepared spiritually is more important than anything else. Let’s continue this week with other preparations for these Revelation days.
Recently the Lord told the Morningside Prayer Team to not dread 2013, but rather to delight in the Lord throughout 2013. He said terrible storms and difficult events were ahead of us. The world would experience much turmoil, but God reminded us that He is still the abundant God. God has a never-ending supply of help and provision for those who trust in Him. The Lord said He still had many wonderful blessings for His children and to look to His Kingdom, not the world’s system.
We were also instructed to stay close and inquire of the Lord before making any decisions. Study of the Word needed to increase and we were strongly admonished to wield the sword of the Word like Jesus did when tempted by Satan. Ultimately our trust has to be in the Lord, but we are to participate and cooperate with the Holy Spirit.
In Psalms 91 there are conditions to staying safe and under the Lord’s protection. (Read so you will know what they are.)
Next was preparation mentally – to not let unimportant things clutter our thinking. Deal with and cast out fear in Jesus’ name. Maintain mental strength for the days ahead. Stay focused on the Lord and regardless of the evil reports you may hear, always return your thoughts back to the goodness and greatness of our Mighty God.
Isaiah 26:3—“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” KJV
Psalm 27:1—“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalm 119:165—“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”
We are blessed in the 21st century to have so many luxuries and many of us are spoiled. We have been pampered with all the conveniences and sometimes think we can’t live without them. Just the opposite is true – in fact you can become very resourceful when necessity arises.
*Prepare emotionally by allowing the Holy Spirit to minister healing in areas of brokenness. Develop a “tough skin” but keep a tender heart. Cast off those things that easily beset you or hold you back because of emotional wounds. Allow forgiveness to flow toward those who have hurt you. Be set free from the bondage of unforgiveness.
In Luke 4:18 Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,…” KJV
*Prepare physically – make an effort to eat a healthier diet and start with moderate exercise in order to strengthen your body. We need to be strong spiritually and physically. Our health is a gift but it’s up to us to maintain it. Discipline yourself to get more rest. Eat less sugar and processed food. Try to consume more food in its natural state (raw).
*Prepare financially – purpose to set aside some cash so it is readily available when needed. Don’t fret about the amount, just start with whatever you have. I keep a gallon jar in the kitchen area and several times a week I toss some loose coins in it. It’s surprising how fast it builds up to a significant amount. Pastor Jim recommends setting aside some smaller bills such as, 1’s, 5’s and 10’s. And, of course, getting out of debt is a goal we all should have.
*Prepare by storing essential supplies. Morningside Church/Jim Bakker Ministries has been excellent on this point. Wonderful time-saving and life-saving survival items have been made available to us. I am so thankful that we have access to the water pitchers, the generator, the dehydrated food, water storage containers and numerous other items.
Especially we are grateful for the Revelation teaching and better understanding that we now have of upcoming end-time events. Knowing where we are on God’s time table is very helpful. Pastor Jim’s new book “The Time Has Come” is full of insight and written in a manner that is easy to understand. Be sure to order your copy!
You are part of the Revelation Generation! God wanted you here at this time in history. He has a purpose for your life as long as you are drawing breath. As you prepare spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, financially and survival-wise, know that we continually pray for you and your loved ones.
You can do this — with God all things are possible!! Let’s get ready together and be prepared to help others as the need arises. God bless you!
