Who’s Your Boss?

Sharon Couchman

“Who really is in charge of your life? Who or what has your attention the most? What determines what you do? What motivates you? These are questions that all of us need to stop and ask.

Recently I heard a sermon by Pastor John Davis of Sunday Revival asking the question “Who’s Your Boss?” This question caused me to stop and ponder about my response. I hope you will do the same. Friend, who is boss of your life? All of us are servants of someone or something – what about you?

Is it Fear, Fame, Fortune or the Father?

Jesus said; “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” Matthew 6:24 KJV

There is one person in your life who decides who really is in control. This person determines the direction you go, who influences you and whose opinion you respect. Who is this person?

** You! **

Deuteronomy 30:19-20–“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life,….” KJV

This verse shows God’s heart toward you. He wants His best for you, however, God still permits you to choose. While you are deciding which way you will go, — the path of death or the path of life — God Himself is cheering you on and encouraging you to choose life. Choosing life means choosing God and His ways!

There are 1,595 “if’s” in the Bible and most of them are dealing with the promises and blessings that God has for us. God loves His children and promises many blessings for His followers. However, most of these blessings are conditional and based upon many “IF’s”. The “IF” has to do with our cooperation and obedience to God’s counsel, guidance and laws. All the planets, nature and animals obey God, but who do you obey?

Many assume that God is automatically in control of them. However, the extent you allow the Lord to work in your life, help you grow, motivate and direct you is your own choosing. I pray that the One you have chosen to be the captain of your life, the One you love and serve is our Heavenly Father.

These questions are not intended to be condemnatory, but rather to help you re-evaluate priorities and give God first place. Our Father in Heaven is the ultimate boss. He is loving, holy, just and trustworthy.

God tells us in Psalm 118:6—“The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?” KJV

Proverbs 8:35—“For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the Lord;” NKJV

Psalms 5:12—“For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.” KJV

Wow! What a word! As Christians we have no greater favor than God’s. Think on that!! The Boss of the whole universe is on your side! He is for you, not against you and He always has your best in mind. That is why you can trust Him with your life. He is the best boss you could ever want or have.

Recommit your life to the Lord today and invite Him to be in charge of everything concerning you. Surrender all to Him and allow Him to be your boss. Then the next time someone asks you, “Who’s your boss?” you can confidently reply, “THE LORD!!”

**P.S. Don’t forget to introduce others to your boss, your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!!
