I was truly thrilled to recently have the honor of interviewing Governor Mike Huckabee, a born-again Christian and ordained Southern Baptist minister, on our show. It was one of the top 10 highlights of my life right alongside interviews I have done with Presidents Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton. I believe Mike Huckabee is a man raised up for this hour, and he has a message for us – a message I was honored to help him get out to the world on our television broadcast. Governor Huckabee has written extensively about his desire to see this nation return to the core principles that most of us share in his new book, “God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy,” which is available on our website. Mississippi Lawmakers Propose Making Bible State Book
Three Mississippi lawmakers are fighting to make the Bible the official state book.
Rep. Tracy Arnold of Boonville, who is also a pastor, introduced a proposal in the House to “recognize the value of the Scriptures.” Two state senators, Tom Miles of Forest and Michael Evans of Preston, introduced a similar bill in the state senate.
“Me and my constituents, we were talking about it and one of them made a comment that people ought to start reading the Bible,” Evans told AL.com.
“The Bible provides a good role model on how to treat people,” Miles added to the Associated Press. “They could read in there about love and compassion.”
The state currently does not have any book designated as the official state book.
The Bible has been lauded in the past by many politicians including former President Ronald Reagan, who declared 1983 the national “Year of the Bible.”
“Many of our greatest national leaders—among them Presidents Washington, Jackson, Lincoln, and Wilson—have recognized the influence of the Bible on our country’s development,” Reagan stated. “The plainspoken Andrew Jackson referred to the Bible as no less than ‘the rock on which our Republic rests.’”
“Today our beloved America and, indeed, the world, is facing a decade of enormous challenge,” he continued. “There could be no more fitting moment than now to reflect with gratitude, humility, and urgency upon the wisdom revealed to us in the writing that Abraham Lincoln called ‘the best gift God has ever given to man . . . But for [without] it we could not know right from wrong.”’
Turkey Allows First New Church Since 1923
The last time Turkey allowed a new church to be built, Time Magazine was publishing its first issue, Warner Brothers established their movie studio and President Warren Harding was succeeded by Calvin Coolidge.
The Syriac Christian church will be built not far from Greek Orthodox, Armenian and Catholic churches in a suburb of Istanbul. Until this new construction was approved, the only construction allowed by the government was refurbishing established church buildings.
Only about 100,000 of the 80 million people in Turkey are Christian.
The move is seen as mainly political. Turkey has been under fire from the European Union after an ancient Byzantine church was converted into a mosque and all traces of Christian history wiped from the building.
The ruling party in Turkey has been working to align themselves with other Muslim-majority nations in the Middle East.
Navy Chaplain Dismissed For Standing For Jesus Elected To State House
A Navy chaplain discharged for praying in Jesus’ name while he was in uniform is heading to the Colorado State House.
Gordon Klingenschmitt was elected in Colorado’s 15th District with 70% of the vote in a district that is only 43% Republican.
“I owe a great debt to our volunteers and donors, and I am humbled by the voters’ support. As perhaps the only ordained minister elected to our state Republican caucus, I will work hard to represent all people of my district, regardless of political or religious belief. As a Chaplain, veteran, and PhD in Theology, I will defend everybody’s First Amendment rights,” Klingenschmitt said in his victory address.
Klingenschmitt was dismissed after 16 years as a Navy Chaplain for praying in Jesus name in public events and for attending partisan events in his naval uniform. After being removed from the service, he started the “Pray In Jesus’ Name” project to reaffirm the rights of chaplains and Americans to pray in Jesus’ name in public.
Some liberal media outlets have denounced Klingenschmitt as being a “radical” for saying that American law needs to reflect God’s law and that we should base our lives and decisions on the Bible.
Evangelical Vote Key In Election Wins
A report on election polling shows that many of the major victories by pro-life and pro-Christian candidates on Tuesday were a result of an increased turnout by evangelical voters.
Public Opinion Strategies found that nearly 1/3 of the total voters on election day said they were conservative Christians.
Ralph Reed of the Faith & Freedom Coalition said at a press conference it was no accident the turnout of people of faith made a difference at the polls in key races.
“The [evangelical] vote was critical in 2010, it was critical in 2012 and it was critical in 2014. If you look at where the Republican Party was on election night 2008 and you look at where it is today, without a muscular turnout of evangelical voters in these kinds of margins, it just simply does not happen,” Reed said. “Joni Ernst just does not beat Bruce Braley. David Perdue does not avoid a runoff in Georgia yesterday.”
Reed said that the election results from Tuesday should show conservative Christians that their vote matters on election day.
“Conservative voters of faith were the largest constituency in the electorate in 2014,” Reed said. “Their share of the electorate exceeded that of the African-American vote, Hispanic vote, and union vote combined. Religious conservative voters and the issues they care about are here to stay. They will be equally vital in 2016. Politicians of both parties ignore this constituency at their peril.”
Houston Sermon Subpoenas Feared To Be Republican Fundraising Tools
The recent incidents in Houston where the government tried to seize the sermons of pastors critical of city government actions is now coming under fire from those on the left-wing who fear a backlash that could harm them at the ballot box.
The anti-Christian organization Americans United for the Separation of Church and State has posted a piece posted by member Rob Boston which says that incident will harm those who are trying to keep Christians from having their views in the public arena.
“The officials have handed the Religious Right an incredible public relations victory,” wrote Boston, adding that “this incident has become fodder for the Religious Right’s ‘we’re being persecuted’ campaign. At the end of the day, that’s what’s so unfortunate about the city’s misstep: These subpoenas will launch a thousand right-wing fund-raising letters.”
The demands came after many Christian groups protested and spoke out about a law that would force public locations within the city to allow various actions considered possibly dangerous, including allowing men to use women’s bathrooms.
The subpoenas have drawn condemnation from even major anti-Christian organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union.
The city is angered that over 50,000 signatures were collected on a petition over overturn their law, which city attorney David Feldman dismissed as being mostly invalid. The issue will go before a court in January.
Anti-Semitic U.N. Official Leaving Post
An openly anti-Semitic official with the United Nations announced that he would be stepping down from his position.
Leaders in the U.S. and Israel expressed their joy over the departure of Richard Falk.
“The United States welcomes Mr. Falk’s departure, which is long overdue,” U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power said in a statement. “Falk’s relentless anti-Israeli bias, his noxious and outrageous perpetuation of 9/11 conspiracy theories [and] his publication of bizarre and insulting material has tarnished the U.N.’s reputation and undermined the effectiveness of the Human Rights Council.”
Falk, in his position as UN Special Rapporteur on Palestinian Human Rights, allegedly altered and excluded information from reports that would show Israel in the worst possible light and would overlook the murders of Israeli citizens by Islamic extremists groups and Palestinian cities.
U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon even publicly admonished Falk for his one-sided views on the Israel-Palestine issue.
The U.N.’s “Human Rights Council” includes nations that are not known for giving human rights to their citizens, such as Cuba, Pakistan, Russia and Saudi Arabia.

Egypt’s interim head of state says that an international effort to end the situation in the country has failed and that the government will begin taking further steps to resolve the situation.

Egyptian Foreign Currency Reserves Dive In January
Egypt’s foreign currency reserves took a major hit in January falling 10%.
Egypt’s central bank said that reserves fell $1.4 billion during the month as political unrest and violent protests start to have a major impact on the government’s ability to collect funds. The dip raises significant concerns about the stability of the Muslim Brotherhood-led government. Continue reading
