U.N. Inspectors Fired Upon By Snipers But Reach Investigation Site

Matthew 24:6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.

The United Nations is sending strongly worded complaints to the Syrian government after the body’s chemical weapon inspection team was fired upon by snipers as they tried to reach the site of last Wednesday’s chemical weapons attack.

The team was forced to retreat when one of their cars was struck by sniper fire in the tires and windshield. They were entering an area considered a “buffer zone” between rebels and government troops at the time of the attack according to the BBC.

Both sides in the war blamed each other for the shots fired at the U.N. inspectors.

The team eventually reached hospitals in the area of the assault, interviewing witnesses and doctors about the injuries and ailments of those believed to be victims of the attack. One doctor openly told inspectors during a live web feed the injuries they were looking at were the result of chemical weapons and inspectors took notes.

Turkey’s leaders have released a statement that they would join the U.S. in action against Syria for their use of chemical weapons and that “35 other countries” are considering joining an action if Russia blocks the U.N. Security Council from acting.
