Pastor Jim Bakker began a new teaching series this past Sunday entitled “To Know Him.” The series will continue at 3:00 p.m. CST each Sunday on Grace Street at Morningside where everyone is welcome.
Pastor Jim began the series by emphasizing that it’s a crucial time for the Believer and a time to draw close to the Lord – to know Him! (Matthew 16:28, Luke 9:27) He emphasized that the End Times Church will come together like never before in a dark and troubled world and they will be the light to show the way to Jesus (Matthew 5:14).
He also told the Morningside Master’s Media students that they must have a firm foundation – one that is unshakeable because everything that can be shaken, will be shaken! He spoke of the power of 1 Corinthians 3:11: “The foundation that has already been laid is Jesus Christ, and no one can lay down any other foundation.”
Pastor Jim taught how important it is to know the Truth of God’s Word in the Last Days because many false teachers will arise teaching things that are not true. Matthew 4:4 says, “Jesus answered, “It is written in the Scriptures, ‘A person lives not on bread alone, but by everything God says.’” NCV
False doctrine comes about by taking a scissor to the Bible and cutting out verses to prove what you want to teach (proof-texting). This technique is usually used to emphasize one particular doctrine (i.e. the prosperity doctrine) when a thorough, expository teaching would show a completely different emphasis and meaning.
Pastor Jim went on to explain that when he was in prison, “I began to run everything through the Jesus filter. Jesus is the Word. You can’t contradict the Word. We’re going to study every word Jesus spoke in the next few months.”
He noted that the prophets were very quiet about the election, but not John Shorey. “He told me that Obama was going to win the election,” Pastor Jim said. John Shorey also said “if Obama is re-elected, we are right on schedule with what I believe is in the Last Days – and we’re in the ‘Window of the Lord’s Return’ right now.” We are the final generation!
John Shorey will be coming back to Morningside on November 27th and 28th with a special message. America is in trouble. The enemies are coming for America.
Pastor Jim also said that there will not be just one event happening at a time in the days to come, but there will be multiple events; storms, earthquakes, no power, etc. in the very near future.
