Texas Gas Service Shuts Down Entire Town

Luke 21:7 “Teacher,” they asked, “when will all this happen? What sign will show us that these things are about to take place?” Luke 21:11 "There will be great earthquakes, and there will be famines and epidemics in many lands, and there will be terrifying things (that which strikes terror), and great miraculous signs in the heavens."

Temperatures were stuck in the teens.  Snow and ice were on the ground.  Residents in many parts of Jacksboro, Texas were stuck in their homes.

So Texas Gas Service shut off the gas supply to the entire town.

The company blames liquid that somehow made its way into the gas lines from their natural gas supplier.

City manager Mike Smith said the gas service was repeatedly turning on and off early Thursday morning meaning the pilot lights in various homes and businesses were shutting off, potentially filling the homes with gas.

The city set up emergency shelters at the Jack City Fair Barn and activity center.  Electric heaters in the city are sold out and some people are using their ovens to heat their homes.

The city’s fire department is preparing for home fires and possible explosions from built up gas.

  1. Sounds like when the liquid got into the gas lines, it did not mix well with the gas, causing the gas to become ineffective for normal use. Then pilot lights went out, which in turn, caused the gas fumes to escape into the rooms , setting up extremely dangerous situations. Especially, our history of so many above ground and below ground gas pipe line explosions we’ve had in recent years/weeks, resulting in many deaths, I can understand that turning off the city’s natural gas lines would at least, prevent new explosions that would kill & injure residents all along the areas serviced by the pipelines. Most times when you have a gas leak in your home, the gas company, legally, must turn off all gas to your home until repaired, inspected and given a green tag of approval for gas representative to turn gas on again. A rather long, cold experience when you’re trying to stay in a cold house waiting for all things to be corrected again.

  2. I think this is terrible what the Texas Gas Company did to the people in one town in Texas in freezing cold temperure’s. In Illinois they don’t do thing’s like that to their people. I have lived here for 70 years and nothing like that has ever happened. They have no consideration for their human being’s there as far as i am concerned. Your company needs to have more feels for people in cold freezing weather..

  3. How would homes fill up with gas if the gas isn’t on? That doesn’t make sense.

“So TGS shut of the gas supply to the entire town”
You make it sound like they shut the town off on purpose which is ridiculous. I can’t even imagine how much this is going to cost their company in man hours and repair costs

    • The gas was shutoff due to liquid making it’s way into the gas lines. The gas service was repeatedly turning on and off early Thursday which caused pilot lights to go out, filling homes with gas.
