Seven NATO Troops Killed In Afghanistan

Revelation 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).

afghanistanSeven NATO forces have died in two attacks over the weekend according to a NATO spokesman.

The deaths come as the Taliban has announced their “spring offensive” against in an attempt to undermine the current Afghani government as NATO begins to remove troops.  The Afghani military is expected to be given total control in 2014.

About 100,000 troops are still in the country.

“Every soldier who dies here in Afghanistan is one too many,” Brig. Gen. Gunter Katz said in a statement for the U.S.-lead International Security Assistance Force.  “But again, this will not have an effect on our overall campaign.  We stay committed and we will stay committed in this country to support the Afghans also in the future.”

The death toll for NATO troops this year is 49, 37 of the deaths Americans.

A spokesman for Kandahar’s governor said the roadside bomb that killed five troops was in an area known to be a hotbed of Taliban activity but that the terrorist group had not yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Three British troops were killed earlier last week by a roadside bomb in a Taliban attack.   Brig. Gen. Katz commented it had been a “rough week” for the coalition.
