James 1:27 says “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…”
On Monday September 26, Morningside hosted its monthly Widows Luncheon. The Widows Luncheon is an outreach of Morningside Church to the widows and widowers of our community. Those who attend are treated to lunch, provided by Morningside’s Fireside Cafe, followed by singing and fellowship.
Widows have a very important role in the body of Christ. We see widows as victors of life. Time is short. Widows are often powerful intercessors, nurturers, and encouragers. As the return of Christ draws near, widows are taking their place of power and honor in the body of Christ and souls are being won to the Lord.
1 Timothy 5―The scripture tells us to “honor the widows as victors.” We encourage widows to take their place in the Kingdom work. Anna the prophetess in Luke 2 was a widow devoted to prayer and fasting. Upon seeing Jesus, she was among the first to speak of the child who was to bring redemption to Israel. There is a special place in the Lord’s family for widows and orphans. It is a place of honor.
If you are widowed or single we would love for you to join us at Morningside for this special luncheon to honor Widows, held the last Monday of each month at 3:30 p.m. Pastor Jim Bakker and Lori love to treat each one who attends with a gift just to let them know how special they are.
