Moderate Earthquake Shakes Vancouver Island

Luke 21:11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

Canada’s southern Pacific coast rattled Sunday with a moderate earthquake.

The 5.7 magnitude quake struck around 6:20 a.m. local time about 96 miles of Port Hardy on Vancouver Island.

Residents said that the quake lasted only a few seconds.

“It lasted a few seconds and we absolutely felt it,” Bonnie Overland told Fox News. She said that she was woken by the quake and that at first she thought her dog was scratching the bed.

A seismologist with Natural Resources Canada said quakes are common because of the fault between the Juan de Fuca Plate and the Explorer Plate. The location is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire.
