A Christian man who left Islam and stands up against the brutality of Islamic extremism is in hiding in a refugee camp after surviving an assassination attempt.
Ibrahim Ismaeil Ibrahim, 34, had been working as a writer and human rights defender in the Darfur region. He would document abuses and human rights violations by Islamic extremists.
“I defected from Islam and started writing articles through my [pseudonymous] page on Facebook, in which I described Islam as a religion of terror and killing,” he said. “Then some people discovered my identity and sent me messages of intimidation on my phone that they were looking for my head. Suddenly, I was attacked.”
Islamic extremists broke into his home and began to fire on Ibrahim’s bedroom.
It was discovered that the Sudanese government, the same government that had sentenced Miriam Ibrahim to death, had been working with the Islamic terrorists to track Ibrahim’s movements and set him up to be killed.
Ibrahim was able to reunited with his wife and two children in Chad. They are now being held in a U.N. refugee camp at an undisclosed location out of fear for their safety.
