First Case of Leprosy In Ireland Reported

Revelation 6:7,8 NCV When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come!"8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse. Its rider was named death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill people by war, by starvation, by disease, and by the wild animals of the earth.

A Brazilian man living in Ireland has become the country’s first reported case of leprosy in modern times.

The man had first contracted leprosy in Brazil 10 years ago and is likely suffering a recurrence of the disease.

“[It’s a case] one might have expected in the middle ages,” Dr. Connor Gallagher told the BBC. “The risk of contagion in new cases is small. However global eradication in recent years has proven difficult.”

The doctor said that while it was “extraordinary” to have a case of leprosy in a general practice in Ireland, it’s an indication of where the world is going in a multi-cultural society.

“As we open ourselves to global travellers, we can expect to see more global health complaints,” doctors wrote in an Irish general practitioners magazine.
