Egyptian Military Chief Asks Public To Give “Mandate” To Act Against Violence

Revelation 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).

In a not so subtle message to the Muslim Brotherhood and supporters of ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, Egypt’s military chief has asked the public to give troops a mandate to stop “violence and terrorism.”

The move is seen both as a warning and an attempt to gain public backing for a removal of protest camps set up by the Muslim Brotherhood and Morsi supporters outside military complexes and government buildings.

General Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi made the call during a speech to military cadets. The Muslim Brotherhood called the comments an “open invitation to civil war”.

Clashes between Islamists and government forces has escalated in recent weeks with almost 100 killed. Islamists attacked soldiers in the Sinai on Wednesday killing two and injuring three others. Radical Islamists have a stronghold in the city of el-Arish in the Sinai.

Also, a bomb exploded outside the police headquarters in Mansoura in the Nile Delta wounding 19. The government has called it an act of terrorism although no group has claimed responsibility.

El-Sissi has called for the public to rally with protests as large as the ones when Morsi was removed on July 3rd. He made sure to insist the call for protests is not an invitation to violence.
