Ecuadorian Volcano Explodes

Luke 21:11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

Editor’s statement of correlation between volcanoes and earthquakes: An earthquake is the shifting of the different tectonic plates of the earth’s surface. These plates float on magma (molten lava). Earthquakes and volcanoes are the result of magma beneath the earth’s surface pushing upwards on the tectonic plates. Scriptures that refer to earthquakes are therefore also deemed applicable to volcanoes.

Explosions rocked the Tungurahua volcano in Ecuador forcing government officials to make hurried evacuations of the villages on the slopes and hills surrounding the mountain.

The plume of smoke from the volcano has reached a height of almost 5 miles above the crater. The explosions and quakes have shattered windows and caused structural damage in multiple villages. The explosions have been happening in bursts about two hours apart and involve multiple incidents over 20-30 minute periods.

Volcanic rocks have been seeing shooting from the top of the crater although they have yet to hit surrounding villages. Ash is steadily falling around the area 80 miles south of the capital city, Quito.

Scientists in the area say it’s very likely more explosions, ash and lava emissions will continue into the near future.
