Death Toll in Philippines Jumps Overnight

Luke 21:25,26 “There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

Officials in the Philippines have confirmed 325 people dead from Typhoon Bopha with the number expected to rise as emergency personnel reach more villages.

In addition to the dead, over 375 have been reported missing and officials estimate a number of those will be found dead.

“Communications are bogged down, there is no electricity, roads and bridges have been destroyed,” Civil Defense chief Benito Ramos told the BBC. “We’re still on a search-and-rescue mode.”

In Compostela Valley, survivors have reported that a small lake on the mountain collapsed on one side which caused the overwhelming flood waters that buried a school and community center in a mudslide.

One missing man was found alive in a river in New Bataan on Thursday morning where he had been pinned by boulders and debris. He said that his wife and children were swept away and he feared they were dead.
