Luke 21:25,26 NAS “There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay (tension from difficult circumstances that "won't move" which produces distress or anguish – causing someone to feel "locked in" or “tightly pressed”) among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting (lose morale, become disheartened, like lapsing into temporary unconsciousness) from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world...
Flood waters have been inundating parts of southern Alberta, Canada and cities along the South Saskatchewan River are preparing for more.
Over 10,000 residents of Medicine Hat have been evacuated as officials expect the river to crest at record levels and essentially split the town. The Trans-Canada Highway bridge which joins the northern and southern parts of the city is expected to be underwater Sunday night.
“We don’t want to anticipate the worst, but we’re going to be prepared for the worst,” Alberta Premier Alison Redford said. “We know that, from what we’ve seen everywhere else, that this is more exceptional than we’ve ever seen in Alberta before, so we’re presuming that that’s probably the circumstance that we’re looking at (in Medicine Hat) as well.”
The flooding has killed three people south of Calgary. Calgary, a city about the size of Dallas, Texas, still has water covering parts of the city. The director of Calgary’s Emergency Management Agency says power to the core of the city will be out for days or weeks.
“The city of Calgary took a pretty hard hit, but we’re a resilient city,” Burrell said at a news conference Sunday. “We want to recover as quickly as possible, we want to get people into their homes and businesses as quickly as possible, we want to restore the city as quickly as possible.”
Amidst the devastating floods that have swept through Southern Alberta, causing downtown Calgary to completely shut down for 3 business days and prompting evacuation of 75,000 people from homes along the Bow and Elbow river; The total devastation of town of High River with it’s 14,000 residents all evacuated from their flooded homes not knowing when they will be able to return and more devastation to numerous other Alberta communities, the biggest “drunken party” called Calgary Stampede that is to start in 10 days, whose grounds are totally immersed in water is non-the-less, as it’s president says will go on: Come hell or high water!” They’ve even come up with the t-shirts with the motto. And the T-shirts are flying like the hotcakes. Help us God!
