Boston Marathon Bombers Targeted Times Square

The terrorists who bombed the Boston Marathon had Times Square as the next target on their list.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg told reporters today that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev told FBI investigators that he and his brother had “spontaneously” decided to use the rest of their bombs on Times Square after their successful attack on the Boston Marathon.

According to NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly the FBI found one pressure cooker bomb and five pipe bombs available to the brothers.

The carjacking committed by the brothers on Thursday night that ended with the death of the older brother was the first step in their plan to bomb New York. The car being low on gas stopped them from carrying out the plan when the driver escaped and called police.

Bloomberg praised the Boston police for stopping the brothers noting that they proved they had the capability to carry out a terrorist attack.
