Anti-Christian Group Enraged At Christian Teen Who Defied Them

Mark 13:13 “You will be hated by all because of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.”

The anti-Christian Freedom from Religion Foundation attacked a teenager for his “open defiance” of their edict that Liberty High School in Pickens, South Carolina have no Christian content in their graduation ceremony.

Roy Costner, valedictorian of the 2013 class, threw away the speech he had prepared and submitted to the school and led everyone in The Lord’s Prayer. A video of the speech posted on YouTube has gone viral showing the crowd cheering as Costner set aside his speech.

The school had been fighting with the FFRF after they filed a complaint objecting to an “unconstitutional prayer practice”.

“The valedictorian who so insensitively inflicted Christian prayer on a captive audience at a secular graduation ceremony, is a product of a school district which itself set an unconstitutional example by hosting school board prayer,” FFRF co-president Annie Laurie Gaylor told Fox News.

“I’m happy with what I did,” Costner said. “I want this to glorify God. I want to use this as a witnessing tool and I hope others will stand up for God in our nation.”

Costner also told Fox News he had a message for the Freedom from Religion Foundation.

“We are not in a country where we have freedom from religion,” he said. “We have freedom of religion.”

  1. Thank you Roy!!!!! You speak for millions of Americans who would love to take a greater stand but just don’t know how to do it or are too afraid and you did it so very effectively! God bless and keep you strong!

  2. It is time we all take a stand for God and righteousness.

We have the truth and the answer.

Let’s stay salty and light in this dark world.

  3. Get in touch with the ACLJ in Washington DC a legal group which will fight for you in court.. look them up on the internet.. google them..

I stand for religious freedom and for you, young man.. I applaud your faith and your courage to profess your faith.. we were born as a Christian nation and we can’t let others take that away from us.. if they don’t like it.. we should show them the door out of here and give them lists of atheistic countries.. but if they are here, they must put us with us !!

  4. i love this young man, more people need to be like him and stand up for God in this Country, we have freedom of Religion. We can’t let a few take that away from us.
May God Bless Costner. If he needs representation he can call Jay Sekulo, he fights for God’s people all the way to the Supreme Court if need be.

  5. I have been following events worldwide and from here recently over the last year. I knew things like this were going on, but until I read this story about someone who worked hard, study hard, and made an example of himself for others to use as a role model, wow! I would think that his peers and the teaching staff would want to know where he got the strength to succeed whether from a private teacher or a book he read. Once again as sign of the end days the Christian is being considered a criminal and a nuisance to the world. Any way we know greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world.

  6. I wish there were more young people like this that are willing to defy the “rules” and take a stand for Christ….The anit-christian group wants tolerance but only if no one disagrees with them: then their intolerance shows… Keep yur head held high, Young Man..YOU WERE RIGHT TO DO WHAT YOU DID!!

  7. Amen. Hope this wakes up others. Stand up for our Christian religions! If you do not stand up for your rights, it will be taken away. Just look how they have removed the bathing suit part of Miss World, so as not to insult people of Islam. It is time we all stood up for our religion and all that it stands for. We need to take a stand to oppose abortion. The slaughter of millions of innocent lives. God’s justified anger will be on us if we do nothing. Our lives are in God’s hands from BEGINNING to END. We have no right to interfere in ANY part of it. God Bless that young man.

  8. We need a website to go to -to show our support & stand together to let these kind of groups that fight against our right to worship & let them know that they will NEVER BULLY US OR DEFEAT OUR SPIRIT THAT IS THE TRUTH & LIGHT IN THIS WORLD! God Bless! Rick
