Bill Whaley “The Junk Man”

Bill Whaley

A US veteran who served our country and taught survival skills in the military for over 18 years, Bill Whaley can create amazing things from pure junk found in a trash can!  Living frugal is the motto for him and survival is the motivation that drives him. Whaley grew up on a farm in Missouri and learned at an early age how to live off the land and use whatever was handy for life’s basics.

“I realized all the stuff I was using came from God,” Whaley says. “He put it on this earth in a basic form—whether it be trees, the rocks or the food grown from the ground. It’s been that way since day one. Why not use it?” He quoted in an article in Charisma magazine.

The Junk Man writes a bimonthly newsletter, “The Junk Man Chronicles,” teaching people how to reduce expenses, “live off the grid” and even survive in the event of calamity on what other people throw away. He has been showing people for years how to take trash and junk that you already have and would normally throw away and convert it into something you can use.
