Alan Dershowitz is an American lawyer and author known for his writings and media appearances in which he strongly and often controversially defends civil liberties, in particular those regarding freedom of speech. In 1991, he successfully won the appeal to reduce Pastor Jim Bakker’s sentence. Alan retired from teaching at Harvard Law School in 2013, after 50 years there.
