Thanksgiving

This year has been a very trying year.  Ministry in this hostile world does present its challenges. Jim and I and our family have fought some uphill battles that definitely made us stronger.  But, along with the struggles, we have had some of the most joyful times of our lives!

Our family is ever-expanding, and just this year, we have been blessed with new life in our amazing nephew, Graham, who couldn’t be more special!  We are also anxiously awaiting our new granddaughter, Olivia, who is due to make her grand appearance in December.  Her proud parents, Little Lori and Jasper, are also understandably excited!

Along with all of my amazing children, and others in my wonderful family, I especially give thanks this year for my Mom, Char.  My mother is my rock.  She has been there throughout my life to provide support, counsel, and sometimes, just a listening ear.  As the years go by, she becomes even more of a treasure.

And I thank God for Jim.  Life with Jim is truly “More Than I Could Ever Ask.”  As we dealt with the challenges of getting “Lori’s House” built and ready to save babies, Jim’s resolve never wavered.  While most men would have given up and thrown in the towel, I’m thankful that Jim didn’t give up on “Lori’s House.”

Most of all, I am thankful to God for His faithfulness throughout the generations.

Thankfulness is not just a “nice thing.”  It’s a necessary thing.  Thankfulness to God for His love, care for us, and His provision for our salvation is a major theme throughout both Old and New Testaments.

I encourage you to write down the things you are thankful for and read them a few more times this week.

Please add any other of your favorite inspirational quotes on thankfulness to the comments below so this may be a better resource for those who read it.

Psalm 69:30

I will praise the name of God with song, And shall magnify Him with thanksgiving.

Psalm 70:4

Let all who seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee; And let those who love Thy salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified.”

Colossians 3:15

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 4:2

Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;

  1. I FINALLY got to watch the Thanksgiving segment in the archives – and enjoy the festivities with the Bakker family IN Lori’s House. I was away for Thanksgiving – privileged to be with “family”, Mona Lewis, Becky and Sandy families – so I was sad to miss the special taping. One of the things I am so thankful for is the archives that allow us to still be a part of the very special ones, such as the Thanksgiving segment… I so appreciated the moving testimonies and important Scriptures the L-rd gave to Jim during his prayer time to share with us for encouragement and reassurance from G-d’s own Word. G-d is well-pleased with our attitude of gratitude and grateful hearts where we give Him the glory for all our many blessings. Be blessed as you are a blessing! Mimi ♥ ♥

  2. Happy Thanksgiving to all at Morningside. I always love this time of year to reflect back on all that has happened, but I also love getting closer to the “New Year” and all God has for us. Congratulations on your new little package that will be arriving next month and I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a Glorius Merry Christmas. Blessings Teresa from Texas~

  3. Praise God in his sanctuary; Praise him in his mighty firmament! Praise him for his mighty acts; Praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise him with the lute and harp! Praise him with the timbrel and dance; Praise him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise him with loud cymbals; Praise him with clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord! I am thankful that God inhabits the praise of his people

  4. you are a beautiful lady inside and out Lori. I am thankful God put you and Jim together. You compliment each other. I am thankful for the written Word as well as the spoken Word on CD. I am thankful God speaks to those who have ears to hear. That he forewarns us. I am thankful for the dreams God has given me. I thank God for Jim’s humility and his boldness to declare to this generation the truth of what is coming. I am thankful that even tho I know beyond a shadow of a doubt the big one is right around the corner, that I have a peace that about it. Knowing that the God who spoke to me in my dreams and said don’t be afraid is with me. I am thankful that no matter what we go thru in life we have Andre Crouch’s song to remind us that the blood will never, ever lose its power

  5. Hi Lori:

Thank you so much for being so “down to earth” and for sharing unselfishly with us. Your encouragment means so very much. I am especially thankful this season for God’s promise in Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” Thank you Father!

Thanks Lori’s for this favorite quotes; since I have a family who well believes that they will be taken before the world go into tumoral and well we have different beliefs and it gets pretty intense over religion plus my husband and children along with my parents who had to move in with us too does not believe in stocking up food, water or buying a fuel-less generator etc … so these favorites quotes hit the spot today and I would like to thank you for these they mean a lot to me!!! 😀
