In my years of knowing the Lord, it has always amazed me how much God loves us. It’s something that, as humans, we can have a hard time understanding. No matter a person’s lifestyle, beliefs, or faults, we are all loved by God equally. So much so, that He gave the whole world His only Son in order to give us all a chance at eternal life! (John 3:16)
But for those who don’t understand God’s ability to love, I always find that one of the best examples of His love for us in dogs. To me, they are truly God’s Little Helpers. I believe when He created these wonderful creatures, He did so with the purpose of reflecting His eternal love for us within each and every one.
Dogs love unconditionally. – We all know that our Heavenly Father loves us despite everything, but so do dogs! Every evening when I come home after work, Buttons, Bo, and Bella are always there to greet me with their tails wagging. It’s like having a “Welcome Home” party every night!
Dogs do not judge. – Your past doesn’t matter. Your mistakes don’t matter. You faults don’t matter. Your status, mood, economic situation, clothes, etc. do not matter! You are simply loved for who you are. How pure and wonderful is that?
Dogs offer comfort. – Every day that I felt sick during my recovery from Hepatitis-C, I was so grateful to have my dogs lying in bed with me. They didn’t understand exactly what was wrong, but they didn’t need to in order to know that I needed them. I was so grateful to have them there to hug and cuddle during one of the darkest times in my life.
Dogs protect us. – Psalm 121:7 “The Lord will protect you from all dangers; he will guard your life…”Even though my three little dogs may not look scary, they protect me and my family. While they may not growl or show signs of aggressive behavior, they do alert our household when they hear a vehicle in the driveway or a knock on the door. And I know if something were to ever happen where an intruder entered my home, they would do their best to protect this house because they love me and my family.
Dogs are loyal. – Hebrews 13:5 5 ** “God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’” Our God will never abandon you, and neither will your furry best friend. Despite everything that goes on in my crazy, amazing life, my dogs are always there for me and my family. Even if they get out and explore the yard, I know that they will come back because they are loyal creatures who will never leave or forsake me.
While I know that not everyone is a “dog person,” I think it’s important to recognize these wonderful companions for their reflection of God’s love. So the next time you believe God has abandoned you, or you don’t believe you are good enough for His love, look to God’s Little Helpers. Your furry friend will always remind you that you are loved by them and by our Heavenly Father, no matter what.
Love,
That is a great picture of you and Jim with your dogs. I just discovered this blog or I would have been asking someone where your dogs were when we were at Morningside during the last few days. Just kidding of course but it looks like you may have Chinese Imperials which is what my Christian Bud is. He is not only my constant companion but loves the whole world and takes it upon himself to minister to anyone who is hurting physically or emotionally. Somehow he knows and goes straight to them and sits at their feet or lays in their lap. Sorry we missed seeing you when we were there last week. Hope to be ale to go over more.
Lori, I love this blog! I agree with everything you said! I have 3 little Chihuahuas that automatically turn into Rottweillers when they think I am threatened! Always happy to see me no matter what! I get nothing but love and happiness from them which is so much more than some family! No amount of money could buy them from me because they are all priceless! How are you preparing for them?
Lori, I too suffer from health issues and have a Pom-Poo (Sammy) who is my ever faithful companion. He is a true example of agape love. That is until I give him a bath, but hey, we all have our moments.
I said the same about my dog. Love what you said. They can teach us about forgiveness and moving on!
I so agree , dogs are a God sent they can sense when something is wrong . Just like our Buddy a standard doxie , he sensed when my husband ‘s leg was infected when it was coming on . Praise God he is healed of it . Praise God you are healed of Hep c
Thank you Lori. I am a purebred Dog Breeder of Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers for over 14 years now. Just over 8 years ago I left an abusive marriage with my 5 dogs, and I was sleeping on the floor of a tiny rental house with no furniture and just the clothes on my back. At that time I felt as though I was dying but my dogs slept right next to me and kissed my face as to say its okay Mom everything will be okay. I also was diagnosed only 4 months later with colon cancer and went through 2 cancer surgeries and 2 years of chemo. I always said that my dogs were always there for me and I could not abandon them as my Lord has never left me. I have been cancer free now since 2008 and I now have my dogs in homes all over the world. I am blessed tremendously and give my Lord Jesus Christ all the glory. the only thing that concerns me is if the Lord feels that I am chosen for his rapture what happens to my dogs. I want them to come with me. Please feel free to see my website and all my Beautiful Wheaten Terriers. http://www.honeywheatkennel.com
God Bless
