Flesh-Eating Drug Found In United States

A drug that causes skin to rot away has been found in the United States.

Krokodil, which first began making the rounds in Russia a decade ago, has reportedly been found in Arizona.

The drug is similar to heroin. Krokodil is made by mixing codeine with items like gasoline, paint thinner or oil. The drug is injected into an addict’s vein which can cause the skin to get a greenish hue, scaly and then eventually rot away.

“As far as I know, these are the first cases in the United States that are reported,” Dr. Frank LoVecchio told FoxNews. “So we’re extremely frightened.”

According to Time Magazine, around a million people in Russia were using the drug as of 2010 making it the only country in the world where use has grown to epidemic levels.
