Baghdad Bombings Kill 50

Revelation 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).

A series of coordinated bomb attacks have left at least 50 people dead in the Iraqi capital city.

Police and hospital workers tell the BBC that the bombings targeted the daily rush hour.

The deadliest individual bombing so far is a car bomb in southeast Baghdad that killed seven. So far at least ten separate bomb attacks have been confirmed by Iraqi police. Over 160 people are confirmed injured.

BBC correspondents in the city have said the violence is increasing to levels not seen in five years with violent incidents happening daily. The tensions between Shia and Sunni Muslims is believed to have been stirred up by the neighboring Syrian civil war.

U.N. figures say 1,057 Iraqis were killed in July making it the deadliest month in years. Most of the dead were civilians.
