Revelation 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).
UK Prime Minister David Cameron will be hosting a conference aimed at bringing peace to Somalia and driving the Islamic terrorist group al-Shabab from the country.
The conference will focus on rebuilding the security forces, stopping violence against women and ending the Islamic insurgency that has plagued the country for years. Â The insurgency and piracy connected to the Islamists contributed to the problems of a famine in Somalia from 2010-2012.
Al-Shabab, who has been driven from the major cities because of African Union forces, carried out a bombing in the capital of Mogadishu on Sunday killing seven.
“I hope we can all get behind a long-term security plan,” Cameron said, “one that ends al-Shabab’s reign of terror forever. Â I also hope we can improve transparency and accountability so people know where resources are going.”
The current Somalian government is the first one recognized by major world powers in almost 20 years.
The conference will also work to eliminate assaults against women in the camps of citizens displaced from their homes because of the ongoing terrorist attacks.
Somalia aid worker Halima Ali Adan told the BBC that the conference even addressing the issue of the violence against women is a huge step toward solving the problem.
“The international community themselves have seen the importance of this issue to be addressed as soon as possible because it is actually overwhelming,” Adan said.
The conference will have representatives from over 50 countries.
