Southern Peru has been rocked by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake. The quake was the seventh quake in the region in the last week.
The U.S. Geological Survey marked the quakes epicenter at 53 miles northwest of Arequipa, Peru. The quake registered a depth of 52 miles.
Authorities have not reported any casualties or damages. However, reporters for El Comercio newspaper in Peru said the main road heading into the region was blocked with debris due to the quake. The reporters also said they found two injuries and at least 15 homes destroyed from the quake.
Arequipa is the second most populated city in Peru.
Scientists are concerned the earthquake could be connected to the Sabancaya volcano.
Peru is located along the Pacific Ring of Fire.
