Philippines Rocked By Multiple Earthquakes, Tsunami

Luke 21:11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

“Catastrophic calamities are coming upon the earth, not one of these days in the distant future, but soon—now! Torrential rains, unsettling weather patterns, violent storms, floods, famines, droughts, earthquakes increasing in frequency and intensity, volcanic eruptions, and a host of other signs of the times Jesus told us to watch for are happening now.”

-Jim Bakker in “Prosperity and the Coming Apocalypse”

Over half a dozen earthquakes struck off the coast of the Philippines on Friday triggering a tsunami alert.

A 7.6 magnitude earthquake just 21.6 miles underneath the ocean floor triggered the tsunami 60 miles east of Sulangan at 8:47pm local time. The major quake was followed by a series of seven lesser quakes (5.5, 5.4, 5.1, 4.8, 5.4, 4.9, 5.0) in a two hour span.

The crush of residents seeking information about the potential storm crashed the website of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. The group’s head, Renato Soldium, issued an alert that residents along the coastline should seek higher ground until they could determine the extent of the tsunami’s strength. They did issue an immediate evacuation notice for residents of the coastline.

A 54-year-old woman was killed and her 5-year-old grandson injured in Cagayan de Oro city when their house collapsed during the initial quake. Many other cities have had their power knocked out.

  1. Please pray for our daughter-in-law Gong’s Mother & Father & family
in the Philippines. They have been flooded out of their home 2 times now. Her mother just had a stroke a few months ago and now her father is in the hospital with aches & pains through his body & dehydrated.
They are in need of just the essentials in life. Food & water.
Gong is trying to get enough money together for her & her sister to see their parents in Midanao. Please pray they get the funds to go & go in safety. Thank You, LOVE..Pastor Ken & Arlene Lane, Marathon, New York.
